I don't know. As far as I know he was also a photographer. That is written on wiki page you linked to. Who knows where his family name is comming from. I wasn't abble to find much about him. It's a...
Umm, just a reminder: Waterhouse stops are named after their inventor: John Waterhouse.
Hi folks,
I'm pleased to report, that I finally developed five sheets of 5x12 film in Jobo 3005 tank without problems. Curling sheets into spiral isn't a problem after few tries with waste film. I...
For a long time I've been fascinated by panorama format. I was looking for a 6x17, but it was always too expensive. Then I saw Kerry's 4x10 conversion, and it was a catalisator for my idea. When I...
Hi Oren,
That might be worth trying. I checked, and when curled, my film fits well perfectly. Curling film so, that it will not overlap in pitch darkness will be fun process to standardize....
Hi Oren, I loaded straight into the well with 5 cm sticking out of the well.
It was this discussion that encourage me to try:...
Hi folks,
After reading on this forum, that it's possible to develop 5x12 film in Jobo 3005 drum, I went ahead and borrow the drum to see, what's up. Film loads into the drum all right. It sticks...
Hi,
Since I moved to 5x12 format, I need to put aside Eidoscope #3, as it would not cover, except in macro conditions. Since Jim Fitzgerald is using the rear element only with great success, I...
Here is mine:
46028 and year 08 which is in agreament with Patrice H. Pont and Jean Loup Princelle's book, which gives number 35000 for year 1900 and number 50000 for year 1910.

Thank you, Steven! It looks like there are two different designs with different lens sizes. I wonder, if this could be confirmed with other literature?
Cheers,
Marko
Steven, l searched for Buch Weitwinkel Aplanat sere C, but l only foud Ole's glory to this wide angle objectives. I'll be very thankful, if you can share the catalogue page showing the data.
Marko
For infinity work 300mm lens needs 300 mm of bellows (few milimeters more or less) and 360mm lens needs 360mm of bellows. So both of this focal leinght lenses would work on your Horseman. Portraits...
Steven l don't think it's a periskop. If you look at reflections of rear element, it have two strong and one weak reflection. It looks like french ladscape objective. As far as a maker goes, l would...
TSteven, do you think it's possible, that somebody else manufactured the objective, since most of the data was described in Puyo and Puligny's book?
Marko
I now, because you told me ;). Did you check the distance between the lenses in this last configuration? The design on dioptrique.info site have lenses very close together. You are of course right,...
It looks that Puyo and Puligny were very productive! There is another objective on dioptrique.info that is different still. It uses two plano convex lenses instead of two positive meniscii.
Marko
Hi Bob,
Those images are what I was looking for, thank you.
Makro
Thanks Vinny,
I saw it here, post #33. Is there a photo from any other angle? Google wasn't very helpfoul.

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for photos of 8x10 front frame extender (part no. 069000). Guenter from Lotus camera made me a 5x12 back for my Arca. Unfortunatelly in vertical orientation I need to use all...
Steven, l checked the curves of Periskop and Objectif d'Artiste, and as much as l can determmine, they are not the same design. Curvatures and lens thickness are different.
Marko
Hi Steven,
I found the design on dioptrique.info site. It might be similar to Objectif d'Artiste or might not. I didn't check - yet.
Cheers,
Marko
That chart is an usefoul resource, but not for what OP would like. Those data are for objective focused at infinity. On the other hand with a bit of trigonometry, one can calculate image circle at...
In the past I used this combination exclusevelly. I went a bit lower than Chris and used ISO 64, but my tests aren't all that rigorous.
Collin, are you sure that the front cell is cemented? From the picture on first page, one would think that theat is a two lens air spaced cell. The problem might be unscrewing the front element. Just...
The thing is, that construction of the barrel will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. So if you can't increase the distance between the two elements of the front cell, you will not be abble to...
Collin, in Tessar design, the front light is air spaced two element design. And you shall increase the distance between those two. The rear cell is a cemented doublet. And increasing distance between...
Mark, are you sure about that? Aren't Kodak portrait, Rodenstock Imagon and other meniscus lenses corrected (sort of) for chromatic abberation? I use to play with replica of Puyo-de Pulligny...
Hi Jody,
Thank you. Here is a sensityvity spectrum of AGFA Aviphot 200. It's also clear above 800nm. Now to the question: did anyone tested their IR googles for 850 or 860nm LEDs?
96813
Hi Bill,
Are you talking about 930nm LEDs? That's unfortunatelly what was expected. Another option might be 860nm LEDs. Their emiting spectrum is very narrow indeed. And if people are using green...
OK, I know it sound stupid, but are IR googles safe for near IR films like Rollei IR? I searched quite a bit and by specification AGFA Aviphot's sensitivity drops to zero at around 770nm. Since IR...
How about some colour IR? I started to experiment with Aerochrome in 4x5 size. This is the first usable photo so far. Film expired in 2006 and was at least some time in cold basement instead in...
What is interesting to me, is that I can see the fine images, BUT can only imagine what the prints are like. In Russ Young's disertation he wrote, that inability to see what the prints looks like...
The "problem" with this pin is, that if you are not using original Sinar lens boards, they often don't alow movement of this pin. So if previous owner use it for barrel lenses and wasn't prepared to...
It looks like it was the right decision not to buy it. It's a 4,5 variety 12".
This field of soft focus objectives is really fascinating. One just keep finding new branches on this tree. Thank...
Does anyone have more information on this type of lens? I saw it once, but was afrait to pull the trigger, as information is prety hard to find. The description of it's design resembles the...
You are right, that material changed. But even today's film is very much sensytive in blue and UV region. Just look at say Ilford Delta spectral sensitivity. And the fact is, that with orange filter...
Ramiro, you might try to test the right spot for focusing lens with chromatic abberation. If I remember correctly, you'll need to move rear standard a bit forward from your best focus. Frederick...
Ramiro, if you ask me, I much prefer this last one. The first one is dreamiest of them all, but I find it rather out of focus and without detail, even at this small size. You observed that as well....
Ramiro, try your lupe with orange filter. You might have problems with chromatic abberation and focusing shift.
