I have skinny fingers :)
I use a pen to adjust the aperture, open and close the shutter and cock the shutter. It's a little fiddly, but worth the trouble.

Just a follow-up message to let you know about my quest to work out the best solution for the Shen Hao 6x17 back on the Shen Hao camera. The flat lensboard and regular bellows were not allowing for...
Paul,
I'm not sure if I have answered you already on this topic. Simply remove the metal darkslide, reach into the back through the opening and slide the baffles into the edges of the frame.
Thanks guys, but I already have the wide angle bellows - it was purchased along with the rest of the gear. The wide angle bellows makes very little difference when it comes to movements and...
I've decided that I need a recessed lens panel for my Shen Hao 6x17 back set-up. The standards are just too compressed (in fact, to their limit) when using the 90mm. Shen Hao sells a recessed lens...
Paul, I have decided to go with a recessed lens panel (giving me an extra 14mm) as my standards are currently touching when focussed on infinity. I also have problems when using the film back (not...
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Due to the depth of the 6x17 back and using a 90mm lens, the front standard is fully compressed back inside the box-like 'housing' of the rear standard. Due to...
I discovered a problem when out shooting with my new Shen Hao 6x17 back. Every time I would compose a vertical object in the middle of frame, such as a lighthouse, church, tree, etc, then pan the...
I have recently purchased the Shen Hao 4x5 field camera and 6x17 roll back. Over Christmas and the New Year I had the chance to really test it for the first time and was very impressed with its...
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows which depth of field chart I should be using for my particular setup. I'm using a 4x5 camera, but with the Shen-Hao 6x17 back. Do I go by the 4x5...

Just wondering if anyone has some info they can share about the Caltar-S II 5.6 /135mm lens. I've had trouble finding any info on this particular lens. I believe that it is an older model that was...
Hi,
I have just purchased a Schneider 90mm /f8 lens (approx. 1983 manufacture) with a Copal #0 shutter on eBay. It is on its way from the U.S to me and I'm wondering if I need a lens wrench to...
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has had direct finacial dealings with Mr. Fuming at Shen-Hao. I am interested in buying some equipment directly from him. He has given me his account details in...
Thank you all for your replies. As usual (and expected) the field seems to be divided on this one.
The camera does come with the case, as well as a few 4x5 dark slides and 545 polaroid back. I'm...
Hi everyone. Sorry to keep bugging you all with questions, I just want to make the right decision when it comes to buying my first 4x5 camera.
A few days ago I asked about the Crown Graphic. ...
Does anyone know about the Wollensak Raptar 90mm /f6.8 lens? I can't find any specs on it as far as image circle size, quality and value.
Thanks, Travis.
Hi everyone.
After much research, I think I have decided to start my large format field photography with a 4x5 Graphic. The question is...which one?
I've read that much about them by so many...
Thanks everyone for the info. For some reason I was unable to locate the Shen-Hao website - the link didn't work. That's interesting that the Tachihara and Osaka are essentially the same camera. ...
I'm new to this forum and I would like to say what a brilliant website you have created - such a wealth of information!
It has been ten years since I studied photography and used a studio 4x5...
