This is a very long lens, but not a telephoto design lens (so more than 1m of bellows is required!) Would be great for uber large formats! ;)
Please also note that at closer focus distances, the image circle increases in size.
Normal portrait distances and 4x5 should not be a problem (assuming no movements).
This is a fantastic wide open lens for b&w portraits, hope you enjoy it!
Quick stats:

I have version #3... wide open at f/3.5 it is a very sharp lens, even when adapted to fit my Nikon D3 :)
I have the Fujinon 600A and 600C, but I am still searching for a reasonably priced 11x14 film holder! :(
By the way, I grew up in Toronto and still visit a couple times a year.. it's nice to see...
Most sizes, yes, but not 95mm! :(
It doesn't help that not a single modern Large Format lens comes with this cap size!
Indeed... I was going through my Fujinon Catalog (in Japanese) and confused the front filter size with the front CAP size. :(
There's another great compact Fujinon lens that covers 8x10...
The 240mm A f9 !
This is a modern lens, multicoated and 336mm image circle (70 degrees coverage)

I have a Fujinon 600A Lens and the front and rear lens cap sizes are NOT the same... the front plastic cap is 100mm and the rear plastic cap is 95mm. Unfortunately I have lost my rear cap... does...
The sizes are almost ALL identical. The distribution is fairly even but not entirely so... which makes the whole thing resemble the stuff that grows on petri dishes in the labs of Biology class past...
Help.. I just got a few sheets of Velvia 100 8x10 back from the lab with tiny RED SPOTS all over the image! (size is much larger than typical film grain, but small enough to be discreet to the naked...

I have both the Nikkor W 100mm and Nikkor W 105mm lenses.

180mm sounds about right to me... I should measure it exactly one of these weekends...
Older samples will have a five bladed aperture in the copal 0 shutter, where as newer ones will have a seven blades (marked "(s)")

My favorite rare/cult lens... the Carl Zeiss Planar 135mm f/3.5 T*

A similar lens that is still available new would be the Fujinon CM-W 450mm

very interesting!! would you happen to know perchance where I would be able to order it in Tokyo, Japan?
let's not forget about the grandparents of the fujinon "A" family, the 600mm A and the 1200mm(!) A lenses! should any of you have a picture of the 1200mm please share! :)

This (discontinued) lens needs a 95mm slip-on size... I have found the 95mm screw-on size to be equivalent to the 100mm slip-on cap size but this one is just a bit smaller :(
I've found 100mm, 90mm but no 95mm lens caps from any maker, anywhere!
I've tried the 95mm hassleblad pinch on cap but it actually corresponds to the 100mm large format size :(
Any suggestions...
Have you considered the Fujinon A 600mm or Fujinon C 600mm?
The A covers about the same as the XXL, while the C is extremely light for its coverage :)
I have the later T* version of the 135mm Zeiss f/3.5 Planar and I have seen the Xenotar as well. These lenses are not even close... the Xenotar barely covers 4x5 and is soft wide open. The Zeiss...
I have the 210mm SSXL and it is one HUGE lens, with a metal(!) front cap. Like the other SSXL lenses the front element is much bigger and heavier than the rear (unlike say, the symmetrical Nikon...

all very curious... this weekend i need to go out somewhere and test a 8x10 with this lens :)
This lens appears to be normal in all respects, so I believe the "D" is for "Demo".
The red "D" is engraved in a similar font to the rest of the lettering.

what about the fujinon CM-W 450mm?
it's the biggest plasmat that anybody makes today, yet oddly lighter than my 360mm W Nikkor. now if only I had a 20x24 camera to do some testing...
funny, I just visited Yodobashi in Shinjuku and they had all three "C" lenses for sale.
the prices are *roughly* about 65000, 85000 and 130000 yen including tax, but before the 10% point rebate.
