i'm on the lookout for a reasonable priced tele lens and have turned up a yamasaki tele congo 500. i've never heard of this brand in my life, anyone out there know about this lens or the company that...
thanks for all the comments, we've incorporated all of the feedback into the site.

as a relative newcomer i have always been grateful to the people who help out on this forum, so after a long editing process i have just produced a photography web site, although i am not really sure...

good comment michael, i too have been involved in design and book production for many years and find that the kind of obstanate boasting which you quote (and crops up on this site from time to time)...
martin is right in all respects, stay on the west coast, the further north the more rugged. stay away from the loch ness tourist route. i take my film with me (from spain) and i bring home to process...
nice one!, thanks frank.
carrying 2 cable releases and a nipple is a recipie for disaster, we have enough potential for error working in l.f. without forgetting/losing a "nipple" which only work...
i have mounted an 80 xl on to a linfof sunk plate for use on my tecnika. and was overjoyed to find that they fold up neatly in the camera.
however the super linhof designers have deemed that a...

one of my friends had just bought an epson 9600 injet printer (or the latest model whichever number that has) i'd like to make some prints for diplaying in public (in front of many photographers). i...
i agree with matt, "gallery quality" to me means "highest possible standards" unless your particular asthetic is deliberatley low quality. i did some tests with my local repro house comparing...
well tim, it sounds easy but the reality is more complicated.
as a graphic designer i work a lot with colour separators, the usual firm i contract has a 250,000$ heidelberg space station type...
I've used both the 545i and the ss readyload holder, they have both worked well with kodak film but it looks like the ss readyload holder holds the film flatter, at least to my uncritical eye...
38, still a baby to 4x5, 8 months.
I have the same holder.
The fogging you have around the borders is caused by the holder, I had the same problem, posted a question here, and the fix was to take the thing apart and sand down...
ok, nice work guys, i get it.
i'm gonna try it out this weekend.
thanks you are a great team!

dear experienced and generous lf users
ok, i've had a few months to work a bit with my new (to me) tecnica, so i have s kimmed the books on movements and have used them albeit slowly and carefully...
thanks for the advice, i'll give it a test run.

hello,
i expect that this will be a rather dumb question but on the kodak site i can't see any reciprocity tables for the portra films 160 & 400.
i am planing to shoot in very low light and...

Does it really matter if the tanks are dirty?
I use the 38 biogon and it has quite a bit of light fall off used open.

Thanks for your comments Michael, I am very unexperienced in LF, and have really only been "obsessed" by photography for a few years, coming at it from the graphic arts, (I am a graphic designer),...
OK bolt down the hatches... I think that it is far more difficult to get a spontanious and "liberated" picture with LF than with 35mm or MF, the very act of placing the gizmo, the GG, the cost, the...
Good point, I learned with a 35mm rangefinder and made a recent move to LF and spend very little time looking at the GG, I don't even have a darkcloth, I just pull my jacket or shirt up over the...
I have been looking at prints made from my MF planar 2.8 (645), and although I a m no expert they are considerably better looking - more contrast, sharper, more detail, especially under the lupe, -...
Thanks very much to everyone, I'll sand down the fimback as Michael suggests and do some tests.

Sorry to ask such an inane question, I've been offered a Schneider 135 Apo Symma r (new), good price, mail order. Does this lens fold into the Linhof Technica li ke the Rodenstock 135? (it's a toss...
two little thoughts on the above, firstly there seems to be a consensus that pho tographic technology has really advanced in the last 150 years, sureley apart from digital it is more or less the...
Matt, darling, have you got a headache again... don't worry we don't have to do anything you don't want to...
Although I'm the poster I can't resist chiping in, I think that an LF print, whatever the technique has a certain presence, hard to define, perhaps it has something to do with the effort that goes...
Most of us know that Large Format photography offers features not usually availa ble with smaller formats, camera movements, ability to expose specifically one s heet at a time, so exepting these...
I agree with the theory, but come at it from a different angle, I really don't like saturated colour, but in 35mm I use Ectachrome 64, and expose to saturate, drum scan and get excellent 30 x 40cm...
Thanks for your advice Paul, I did the pinhole test as you suggest and the bellows is fine, I checked the springback and OK too, next the "isolation foam", well the original is in place and it too...
