See Magnum in Motion: Alec Soth for a slideshow of this work.
How is the focus of this scanner on 8x10 film and transparencies?
For 8x10, my concern would be the lack of proper film holder. 8x10's are put right onto the glass, whereas all other formats rest...
Answers to your fiirst two q's:
1) Recessed
2) Shouldn't be any issues. I have a few cheapy Technika style boards, and while they don't "snap" right into the adapter as others do, they are...
Does anyone have any sample scans (8x10 film or transparency) done with the Microtek i900?
You sure you want to go changing bag for this? The 3005 being as large as it is, I can't imagine being able to wrestle with three film holders and the drum comfortably (or evenly remotely so). I...
I use a Jobo 3010 on a reversing Unicolor roller just like yours, except that I don't set it to reverse direction (for the reason you just mentioned). Instead, I manually pick up the drum and turn it...
Good points, good points all. I ought to know better than to naysay a Graflex user! But to all of you who lug around 10 lbs. of Graflex gear as a large point and shoot, I say this: come home to a...

Come back in 50 years with your Shen-Hao and say that!
I took my Shen-Hao around for more than four years in a small Jansport daypack, wrapped in a dark...
The Graflexes have been talked up so much that they are now priced well above their worth on the auction site. Don't get me wrong -- they have their appeal, much the same way that the Lomo or Seagull...
....and the lever should not touch the rail when totally locked.
That comment from Emmanuel was very helpful. Well, as you probably guessed, I bit the bullet and bought the camera this morning....
I would like to purchase a lens hood, and am considering the Lee system. I'll be using it 4x5 with my 90mm, 150mm, and 240mm lenses. I'll also soon be acquiring a 75mm.
Question is-- should I be...
You've fitted the clamp uincorrectly onto the rail byt he sounds of it.
The rail just slides onto the clamp and then you flip the lever on the side and it locks it - anywhere along the rail you...

Hmm.. that hadn't occurred to me. The clamp that was on the camera was this:

(This picture is from the Arca brochure) I assume that's the...
Glenn:
I guess the camera I was taking a look at had the newer style clamp. There was only one lever (on the left side, as you are facing the groundglass). I'm taking another look at the camera...
After much research, I have decided to purchase an Arca-Swiss 4x5 F-Line Compact. I had the opportunity to try one out extensively at a used camera dealer, and came away very impressed.
There was...
Well done. Looking forward to your article on camera bags for hiking. (Been investigating the Kelty Redwing, based on opinions stated in this forum.)
SK Grimes can make just about any kind of lensboard adapter. Send them a Sinar lensboard and they'll cut it out to accommodate Technika boards. Will probably take 4-6 weeks, though.
