I've been using MIS inks and QTR for years. I have an old Epson 4000 that is dedicated to B&W, but also sometimes use our Epson 4880 and 7800. Clogging is not an issue. The little extra cleaning I...

I use MIS K4 inks and just profile my printers using cheap DataColor spectro. Been using MIS inks for over about 10 years or so. Saved thousands and thousands of dollars (we do a lot printing!). Why...
I've been looking at this option: Epson 1400 + UT14 BW Inks (www.misinks.com). I haven't tried it yet, but we use multiple Epson 1400s in our business and I can tell you it is a wicked printer for...
After 2 years of my Mamiya 7 and 3 lenses sitting in my safe I think I am going to try and sell that equipment to buy a Chamonix 5x7 N horizontal. I have never used a 5x7, but am thinking (hoping) it...
I have been using MIS inks for 8 years. I've got "funnel carts" installed in 2 old Epson 4000s, a Epson 7600 and in our current workhorse the Epson 4880. We also have a bunch of Epson 1400s using dye...
We've been using MIS inks (www.inksupply.com) for all our printers for years and have had no issues. I believe for the R2400 you would use the MIS Pro inks (an exact match for the original...
Aerial photography is what I live for (have a beautiful ultralight for that purpose). I do both film (4x5 and Mamiya 7) and digital (5dII). The 5dII is a great tool for aerial because of the live...
Whenever I go somewhere with my 4x5 I always take my Mamiya 7 with 80mm lens, not as a backup, but as another tool. Quite often when I have my 4x5 set up and I'm waiting for light I will shoot away...
Thanks everyone for your leads.

Is there a good drum scanning service somewhere in Canada? I've got a few 4x5's, color positives and some B&W Tmax 100s that I would like to get scanned. Looking to get these scanned to make 30"x40"...
Go 64-bit Photoshop and buy lots of RAM. I'm running an overclocked quadcore intel core i7 120 at 4 GHZ and have 12 GB of ram (6 slots). I'm just waiting for cheap 4GB sticks then I can have 24 GB of...
Over the years I have tried everything, but over the last couple years I have settled on just using my Epson 4000 and QTR. Results are amazing. I work my prints using cheap Epson Heavy Weight Matte...
Like others I've got a freezer full of 120 B&W film that will last me to the "end of days". I do think that 120 will be pressed hard in the next few years because of the affordability and quality of...
I used Hahnemuhle Photo Rag for years (for B&W) before experimenting with Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl (Luster-like paper). I now use Fine Art Pearl for all my commercial work and print sales. This...
Go simple. Buy a 1GB or 1.5GB SATA drive and get something like a ThermalTake BlacX drive docking station. The docking station works either as USB (too slow so ignore) or as an external SATA (eSATA)...
IMHO forget using 3rd party dedicated bw inks. For years I spent a friggin' fortune on various black and white inksets (Cone, MIS, et al.), printers, CFS units. Got tired of fighting clogs. We have 2...
I mostly agree with the statement. My workhorse the last 10 years has been my Mamiya 7 and when I want to go light or I'm in a rush I just grab my medium format gear. However, over the last few years...
I'm curious, for those of you that are primarily "landscape photographers", how often and how much camera movements do you use? I have a few 4x5 cameras, but the one I take out on all my long trips...
I would suggest you take the plunge and get a box of Hahnemuhle Pearl. You will never look back. I also use QuadTone Rip and use Epson Heavy Weight Matte (EEM isn't worth the extra money IMHO) for...
Frustrated with the quality of my Angulon 90mm, I bought both a Congo 90mm and a Fujinon-W 105mm. With all three lenses I did identical shots at variouis f-stops. All lenses were focused at infinity...
<< Do you have to kneel to see through the viewfinder? At 54", that's pretty short.
I'm 6' 2"" and with a tripod extended to 54" I have to hunch down a bit. But I have never found that a problem....
I just received my Benro C-027 carbon fiber tripod from B&H and I am impressed!!! This tripod cost $130 (!!!!). It has 3 legs and sets up to 45" and 54" extended. Extended it is ROCK SOLID. The...
Sounds to me like you are low on ram. Are you using Photoshop? If so make sure that you have the memory usage in the preferences set to 100 percent. Photoshop sets this to 50 percent in setup.

I've got an old Gowland aerial 4x5 camera that came with 150mm Schneider Symmar-S. I'm possibly looking to replace this lens with a more modern lens that has better coatings and that is sharper using...
If you are just after higher resolution images, than what the Canon 5d provides, have you thought about using a medium format camera? I use both a 4x5 (modified Toho-FC Mini) and a Mamiya 7. Ignoring...
