I'am almost ready to process my first b/w negs. I'll be using Tmax 100 for the foreseeable future (just bought a large batch) but might also gravitate towards the cheaper films from freestyle. I'am...

I'am getting tired of waiting till it's dark to load holders so decided to invest in a changing tent. I DON'T want to use a changing bag. The harrision seems to be the one thats most recommended...
Is this b/c of the dichromate? I remember using that stuff for toning long ago and didn't give it remotely as much respect as i gave ferricyanide (which scared me to death). I'am planning to go in to...
Scratch that thought. They look like they are not cheap..... Oh well back to the original plan
Just noticed they have a outlet in NYC!! Thats great I could just walk over and get it...
Thats a idea that I didn't consider and would be a good starting point for me untill I get the alt process down. The less unknowns I have to deal with the better. I looked at the price but could not...
Thanks everyone going through all the info. This is just what i was looking for
I've become more and more interested in alternative processes and since i have some free time coming up thought i would give it a try. I ultimately want to do contact prints and ran across a article...
+1 to what david said. This film is AMAZING for landscapes. In 35mm Their is hardly any grain and when it is visible it's very nice and tight.
Thats outstanding news. I love this film on 35mm. Now heres hoping they won't price it too high
Mr. unpronouncible name:D :D :D
I have three other names that i don't use which are far worse!!:D
Anyway by DR i meant Dynamic Range. Unfortunately i don't have any control over film...
Thanks guys. This is all very helpful especially the recomendations on the color neg film. I forgot to mention that my workflow is scanning the film once i get it from the lab. Based on this i've...
First up my apolagies if this topic has been beaten to death. I have a specific problem and any advice is much appreciated. Her'es the background and the question
I've been hitting the local glens...
Well first up i can't find one. And secondly even the used one s go well above $200 these days. This scanners got a cult following thanks to KR:mad: . Considering i can get a new v500 for under $200...
Thats just it marko, I don't think it's a temp solution. If it does the same thing that i want (print 8x10 and web images) why should i spend more? I can always spend the money on film/gas. Now i do...
Here's my problem. I shoot a fair amount of 4x5 (and this has been exclusivly velvia) but lately have been shooting a LOT of 6x12. I really like the 6x12 format and have been on some occasions...
Beware most (if not all) 22 inch panels are TN panels, which are the worst for photo editing due to there very limited viewing angle. You ideally want a panel with s-ips or failing that pva tech. ...
I have a velbon 640A and have been using it for the last 4 years. Not a single issue. It's travaled 5 times on international flights and a few times locally. Has held up very well. Highly recommend...
I had the same issue as the op. Tried to contact VC numerous times and gave up in the end. I still enjoy the magazine but won't subscribe to it. Just don't want to waste another years worth of...
I hope i'am not too late for the party? Rochester NY here. Would live to go out and do some shooting.
Thanks!!
Keith i use the 32" necksize. My problem is the blackjacket just dosen't stay on the chamonix and there is so much light coming from the bottom b/c of the open design (and worm drive) that it's...
I'am the happy owner of a new chamonix thanks to hugo. The camera is great but i'am going crazy when using my blackjacket dark cloth with it. The damn thing just wouldn't stay attached!! I've not had...
Tapping fingers.....pulling hair......AHHHHH!!!!!!
hugo your killing me!!
Sorry
Eagerly awaiting my tracking number. I was very late on the boat and just thankfull that hugo bumped me up to...
Can't wait to get my tracking number as well!!
Hey hollis, thanks for the lens!!!
poisened gifts:) that certainly is a good explanation. I've thought about the idea of a pacakard/luc/sinar shutter. But they look huge. This lens is small and i'll be using it with my wista DX...
Dan i just measured the lens. There are threads at the back and the diameter is 49mm (or b/w 48~50mm). I'll need to get the calipers from my lab to make sure. Regardless i like the idea of the MP-4....
I have no idea how you can get 1/50 with a set of dark slides. Wow. Any pointers? or links? I want to stop subject motion 1/50 i can do but my wife won't sit still for seconds without her looking...
Dan i've been thinking along the same lines. The lens is a simplex. I bought it off Hollis, here who bought it off Jim. It's very light and small. It's just stuck on a homemade linhof board that...
Drat. Is there anyway to do this without getting a new camera? Sinars are out of my range (over $500 on the auction site). Even used speed graphics go over $150.
I just got bought one of those tiny petzval barrel lenses that jim galli keeps digging out. My intention is to use it to shoot potraits, mostly of my wife and relatives (strictly ametuer). This is my...
can't see the pic??
I'am in rochester and use them for all my 4x5 velvia developing. First rate. Never had any issues. Highly recommended.
Walter i'am being particularly swayed by the prices at the epson clearace store. I'am assuming your doing wet mounting with the V750? Why do you say it wasen't a big step up?
Slowly getting the funds together to get a scanner for my 4x5 velvia slides (that D700 release won't help:) .... must resist.....:D ). Anyway i've considered the Epson V700 for a long time as the...
Great advice. Pauls article really helped me figure things out when i was beginning. His site is a great resource for LF in general.
I'am on the wait list for August (Hugo;) ) but if not would wait till December. From everything i've seen and read it looks like it'll finally replace my Wista woody. Hopefully the economy will hold...
I used to own a Fuji 400mm T lens. I was quite happy with it on my wista. Gave me so sharp pics on 4x5 with moderate movements. The nikon 360mm is also highly regarded but is about three times as...
Trying to carry everything. Can you post a pic of your setup?
