Well it works!
Thank you
If you pay for my flights to your side of the pond you can have it:p
I've just learnt that quickload is different to instant. I don't really care because I want to shoot Velvia :p
I'll have a look myself
I had to google this... now I'm facing a challenging weekend
Wow! The composition of both images is really striking and I think the focus is bang on in the second image! I've not seen any 10x8 Polaroids before and I'm not really familiar with the different...
Thanks:cool:
That is somewhat depressing!
Great! What did you scan it with? The ATL looks an interesting piece of kit!
This is all useful information!
Either would be fine:) I used the term as a playful reference to the subject matter. I need to get back in the water....
Amazing Junsong!
Pretty good, judging by the direct positive Ilfochrome ultra-large work I've assisted with

Back in yer box, Sir Spamalot - this is a forum about photography
I meant RICH and smooth
Keep us posted man, good luck
That is certainly worth knowing!
Haha I was being a bit over dramatic! When I was loading the Shanghai it was my first ever brand new box of film and I was not expecting all these extra...
Agreed! The tone is so right and smooth. Was it on 8x10?
True. Just for clarity my comment about you being probably correct was only because I didn't have my camera to hand to verify myself, not because I doubted your information!
I found this article...
You are probably correct. I think the slight alteration of the colour might lead me to perceive a darkening. The contrast is certainly altered.
Yeah I'm just doing this now! (D700 - owned for 3 years, don't know why I haven't done it yet!)
The other way round - the camera LCD is displaying a jpeg interpretation of the raw file. Generally I find my LCD displyas a brighter more contrasty image, which when opened in a raw converter turns...
Dude I'm so sorry, I did wonder! I have a couple of male friends called Lyndsey and Loren, which everyone misspells Lauren
Yes! It was a right pain in the bum to load it! Sheets everywhere...
Andrea is clear in her post that she re-did the test with fresh and expired film, but I'm struggling to understand how down-rating the films ISO is relevant to this issue - please can you elaborate...
If you were using your 5D in raw format, and your cheap P&S only shoots jpeg then that would almost certainly explain the discrepancy. Opening raw files in Lightroom 5 illustrates this perfectly -...
Agreed! The histogram is the only way to go if you're going to use a digital camera as a device to measure your exposure.
Firstly, if you shoot raw then the image on the back of the digital camera...
Interesting thread (quite long) over on the Rangefinder forum - http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134187
Food for thought... I didn't realise drum scanners could be picked up for that sort of price. I assume they aren't in circulation now, so what are your thoughts about tech support, spare parts etc?
Good to hear RR, thanks! I do like the idea of the film edge border but it's not critical by any means.
Thank you!
I'm following this thread in anticipation of purchasing my first scanner for 4x5, probably an Epson, probably a 750. I briefly looked at second-hand drum scanners but the size and cost make them...
Manfrotto 405 for me, but it's not exactly portable - it's made with heavy aluminium casting and I added a Kirk / Arca / Wimberley dovetail clamp from Hejnar photo store...
You have to draw one important distinction here, and I think the line is where you say 'for sale'. Is art made for consumption, or is it made 'for art's sake'?
...
Worth remembering, as is the mantra 'play leads the way'
Wow - someone please hand me a hammer and chisel to chip away some of this jade
