i am looking for a lab in the pacific nw (washington preferably) that does lightjet or durst lambda prints. any pointers to shops would be appreciated.
thanks.
how many are doing this at home? what equipment is working best for you?
anyone doing it in seattle and perhaps willing to show me their set up?
lastly, what labs in the pacific nw still do...
anyone have one for sale or "rent" in washington state?
i'd like to do several silver gelatin prints and would pay for time, materials.
thanks.
how much better are 16 bit drum scans? where will i see an improvement? how noticeable will it be? in other words, is it worth the effort to upgrade? i primarily print 30x40 inch images from...
yes, thank you. i'm just learning to drum scan.
hi karl,
i have a couple questions:
1. how do i tell the difference between the linotype hell tango and tango xl? what is the difference in terms of specifications? mine has the numbers...
i'm curious if anyone knows where i can find a spare drum and/or other spare parts for a linotype hell vertical drum scanner from 1997. thanks!
subject matter is also essentially limited to still life with betterlight. a friend of mine tried a couple portraits and exposures simply take too long...unless that is the look you are going for. ...
betterlight has incredible detail and DR but the colors, in my opinion, are flat. of course i am biased...
by way of encouragement, i just had several 4x5 negs drum scanned and inkjet printed. now, the waiting game was a bit painful but let me tell you - the prints make my p40+ prints look pathetic,...
anyone in seattle interested in sharing costs of a color darkroom for e6 and or c41 8x10s?
right in wallingford. would love to see your set up sometime if you'd be OK with that. i PM'd you.
anyone know of a lab in washington state for 8x10 e6 and/or c41 processing?
thx
thank you both, very helpful.
i have been using a lab to drum scan color negs before digitally printing and am curious how well transparencies fare when scanned vs colors negs.
what are the advantages and disadvantages for...
thank you.
anyone know the practical advantages of the 758 over the 358 for large format film?
what makes the 758 better than the 358 for large format? i'd like to hear from someone using it...i see the tech differences but more interested in practical implications of having the "advanced"...
i'm wondering which one (308, 358, 758?) would be best for use with my 8x10? i shoot a mixture of landscape, fashion and still life in the studio with flash and/or strobe, etc...so something that...
what qualifies as decent ventilation?
are there many who develop their own color 8x10 films? i have a professor at school who keeps raving about safety issues around sensitization, etc, and so i'm debating whether i should have all my...
Looks like the artist Ryan McIntosh figured out a way to get into RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). He sure knows how to make money online. I almost bought an item at the link below and then...
The Aztek Prem. is nice, I have used it several times. My only issue is that $125 per 3,000+ dpi scan is painful (don't ask why, but I need that quality of scan).
Recommendations?
A friend of mine has offered to sell me her traditional Canham 8x10 standard for $2000. It is in perfect shape. So I have a few questions...
- Is this a fair price for a 2006 version? The JCM and...
Very helpful explanation, thanks.
Being toyed with? Don't kid yourself.
You underestimate the MF digital stitching process.
If you are up for the challenge, rent a P45+/P40+/P65+ with a Cambo Digital Wide DS and go through...
I find this whole DOF issue confusing. Probably b/c I have no experience with large format film.
On one hand, many 4x5 shooters on here seem to complain about 8x10 DOF. On the other hand, most...
You missed the point. With extra long exposures where bright artificial light is present in a small section of the image, over exposure is inevitable. I'll have to link an example.
Looks like I probably need 8x10.
Thanks everyone.
Drew,
Thank you for your response. My answers to your questions/comments:
- I have access to a friend's drum scanner where 8x10 or 4x5 will cost the same.
- Lightjet, as most fine art...
This might seem like a dumb question, but please bear with me.
I use MF digital usually, but want to get into LF for my fine art work as I am tired of stitching.
Next week, I plan to buy a 4x5...
