Hi. Robert White has the 300mm in stock at £470 GBP + VAT.
What sort of focal length lenses are you planning on using? This may help rule out cameras with long bellows/extension. What type of photography are you planning on doing? Will you be shooting...
Maybe a bit off thread here, but in reply to John's comments on the future of 120 film. I had an interesting chat with someone who recently attneded the Photographic Trade show in Japan. He was...
I appreciate that although not true LF many of us use 6x17 so I thought some of you maybe interested in a new 6x17 panoramic camera - especially since the demise of the Fuji 617. It is the Widepan...
Thnaks for all the replies!
Hi. Just wanted to ask a couple of questions of those of you using the Nikon 90mm f4.5 lens. I understand that it accepts 82mm filters on the front, but is there a need to use a step-up ring to allow...
For what its worth I seem to recall (but don't hold me to this!!!) that the problem is a type of oxidisation of the paint - hence the reason that it doesn't flake off and coat the inside glass with...
I had an exact same lens for my 10x8 Dorff. The Schneideritis was "overwhelming" - every mm of every internal surface front and rear was covered - but the lens was "free" so I tried it out - nothing...
I'm pretty sure that Shen Hao no longer produce this model due to the issues they faced after cloning the Ebony SW45.
Hi. More like a copy of the Shen Hao - a few have been on Ebay UK recently - in fact someone bought one for £330 GBP last week.
Hi "C". A few years ago (1980's era I think) John Nesbitt made wooden cameras here in (rainy) Wales, UK. He now (apparently) lives in France and no longer makes cameras. I have always wondered why...
Pretty sure its for the old 90mm 5.6 and the 120mm f8 - reason being I'm looking for just the thing!!! Are you planning on selling if so let me know :)
Hi John. I used the 47XL on a recessed panel on my 45SU - found it a real pain and so used it on a flat panel instead! There is very little room for movement with this lens anyway due to its wide...
Although a great chunk of glass, the 72XL is SUPER sharp! Might be worth considering too?
Okay ... lets delete the word "new"
Some of you may be interested that on the Ebony View Camera web-site (www.ebonycamera.com) there is a new, downloadable PDF manual that explains the use of assymetrical swings and tilts on Ebony "U"...
Just wondered if there were any inherent dangers when freezing boxes of Fuji Quickload film? Any ideas as to how long the film will stay "fresh" for? Can I treat it as other sheet film I have frozen?...
Had a bit of time to kill the other day! So ... as I was swapping lens panels I noticed that a 90mm Rodenstock lens I have has a brass(?) shim on the rear element - nothing new here! I always thought...
As far as I can see the only real benefit of this over the Fotoman is the fact that the Horseman offers 17mm of rise/fall. Otherwise no real advantage?? The Fotoman is a VERY well made camera BTW!
Hi Frank. No its a small, wooden field camera designed to take roll film backs only. From what I can gather they were exported in very small numbers a few years ago - I remember seeing one on display...
Hello to all. Anyone out there using a Photox 6789 Medium Format view camera? I've searched - with very little success and wondered whether anyone had any views/pointers/images etc on/of it? TIA Paul
As a point of interest, every new Schneider I have been fortunate to buy has always been "sealed" in a plastic bag. Is this true of other manufacturers? I should imagine that a lens would have to...
Taking photographs can be stressful - using LF can be especially stressful!! If I'm honest there are times when I question my sanity in using 5x4 - as you describe, packing the gear, driving for...
Hi. This may be of some interest but Nick Rains (www.nickrains.com) modified a Cambo T20 viewer to fit his RSW45. All 5x4 Ebony cameras share the same back - so it should be easy to modify the viewer...
Toyo CF? In my opinion and experience ... Don't bother! Get a Shen Hao! (Yep you heard right!) I rate the Shen Hao MUCH higher than the CF - and I don't rate the Shen Hao that highly :)
Can't comment on the SW810 (more's the pity!!) but with the SW45 the bellows did need careful "reshaping" after contorting them! This was simply a matter of ensuring that the bellows were collapsing...
Sorted! Thanks for the replies! I sort of understood the load/unload procedure (but now its clear!!) and the "lock" button is actually a little ink stamper for marking exposed film!!
Okay ... picture the scene, I'm finally learning about shooting colour - I thought I'd finally give it a try after years of black and white! I've decided on using Fuji Quickloads (got a stash of...
Thanks! I understand that the Fuji holder has a "pressure" plate of sorts - but when using the lens at (say) f22 I'm hoping that any "discrepancy" will be dealt with by using the small aperture!
I was hoping to pick a few brains here! I understand that the Polaroid 545 PRO holder is compatible with Fuji Quickload film. Is there anyone using the older, all metal, 545 holder with Quickload...
Hi Scott. I encountered a similar problem with the 72 XL. I tried the 95mm adapter ring for the normal holder and although I didn't test it, I was 99.9% sure there was the potential for vignetting...
Take a look at Quietworks "Black Jacket" focus cloth - there is an ULF version under development as we speak!
I'm certainly NOT wanting to prolong this thread BUT, curiosity got he better of me and I had a search for the Seagull Cameras web site. Guess what cameras Seagull list on their website? SHEN...
Take a look at the Schneider 110XL.
FINALLY some news!
Firstly, many apologies to Dean for doubting Shen Hao - they are NOT the manufacturer of this camera. The camera is actually manufactured by the other well known Chinese company...
One for Kerry! I've had a thought - dangerous I know! But from what I understand the Toho uses circular lens panels? Where are purchasers of the Shen Hao version going to get circular lens panels...
I think Dean is being very naive! It obvious that ShenHao have cloned the Toho! They already cloned an Ebony - a fact ... proven! If you want proof from Shen Hao don't rely on their site - you'll...
As an aside, I'm just curious as to why the title of my original thread has been changed with the addition of (New Shen Hao Monorail) "a Toho rip-off?" This suggests that I started the thread as a...
Kerry, you're probably correct - this is most likely a re-badged M2? I also agree with the quality issues of some of Shen Hao's products. Having said that these issues are with the 5x4 field camera...
