and I believe that polyester filters are used in the ilford under the lens filters for black and white printing and everyone without fail says they DO NOT degrade image quality. And Lee have been...
The only issue I have with the polyester filters is that are very easy to damage if care is not taken with them. They are much softer material than the resin filters. But providing you aren't one of...
I don't think anyone makes polyester grads so how you know that they affect the end result quality is a moot point. Especially since you never used a polyester or resin one.
Can't answer that with any experience of Velvia so I'll leave that to those who know velvia but essentially yes.
It will depend how you think about your exposure. Many people would use an incident...
The set linked to above are highend glass or resin filters and yes, very expensive.
The Lee polyester filters are cheap. The resin ones are expensive. If you want the best you have to pay for it....
An alternative system. I don't know if its cheaper or not.

That's your call. If price is a stopper you then you get what you can afford. The 100mm filters of most systems are considered "professional" accessories I think and prices are ramped up. And they...
Be careful, if you want to rotate the grad away from horizontal the lens hood is going to rotate with it. The hood I have is square and not rectangular so providing I don't extend it out to far I...
Looks very much like this one

can you see the stamp in the wood over the dovetailing.
tricky one to answer becasue it depends whether you like to sort files by date or by name. Its much easier to find files by a meaningful name than a date and being able to sort by name helps me...
the page you want for B&W filters is this one I think.

Be aware that if you get a universal hood it has two filter slots built into the hood itself and the hood fits directly onto the lens adapter ring of whichever size you have bought for your lens. I...
Thanks again. This one is a real bugger to print becasue the ripples in the foreground are quite greyed out and need high contrast printing and very precise print time to get right whereas the reeds...
in photoshop if you have desatured your image to greyscale but keeping the file as an RGB file, then adding a curve is an adjustment layer so the underlying image is not altered. You can just switch...
selenium gives varying tones from just deepening blacks to very red or aubergene depending on how you use it and the paper it being used.
Use curves to add tones but I couldn't give you any explicit...
I use a jobo 2500 series tank with the 2509n 4x5 film reel which takes 6 sheets of film. I prefer this over and above the combiplan system even if it does use more chemistry when NOT used on a roller...
From the QTR User guide by "Tom Moore" which comes with QTR.
So the need for Corel PSP to be able to use the grayscale 2.2 gamma profile does not exist. QTR handles it.
The standard sRGB...

Thanks, and it does make a very nice print but then I'm biased:D
I think the Clyde Butcher and Bob Carnies prices are more real world examples. It's all too easy to get sucked into trying to do the "Art market" thing of ramping up prices without looking carefully...

an oldie. Not sure if this quite qualifies but here it is anyway.

on both images one in portrait and one in landscape show the main problem coming from the top edge of the camera back. Except on this one you have a light stripe down the left hand side too which I...
linhof made a roll film vacuum back for one of their aero technika cameras. I don't know if it fitted on a normal technika camera but it looks like it might. It took 120mm roll film I believe and...
I think there is definitely some light leak along the bottom of image which has nothing to do with specular flare. The flare is just being exagerated by the light leak fogging IMO.
Just be careful when you come out of the closet.:D
I think there is some specular flare too but have ignored that as it's not a light leak problem and I don't think OP is asking about that but I could be wrong
I would suggest the film holders are not seated fully in the camera back or more likely the camera back seals (black velvet on some cameras) are worn out/flattened so aren't giving a proper light...
No need to share prices. I think there are big differences between the US and UK anyway and even bigger differences between venues and the clientelle (potential buyers) that visit them. Everyone has...
Vuarnet sunglasses are designed to give high contrast in low light. They have a strong yellow/orange filtration. i.e. minus visible blue but will probably also cut a fair amount of UVA. They also...
plain glass blocks most most UVB (non visible) wavelengths but passes approx 75% of UVA which is closest to visible light. But lenses with coatings may well stop some UVA light but not necessarily...
In the UK VAT was increased by 2.5% to pay for the recession. LOL. Well VAT was introduced to replace purchase tax and raise the EU annual subscription when we joined the EU 40 years ago. So In...
look up fishing bags. You'll find something just as good and half the price or less than a bag being sold as a camera bag.
Of course. If the surface is too rough then the drymount tissue will struggle to get a grip on it.
However, what you mount the print to doesn't have to be the same as the overmat. So why don't you...
My motivation for asking the question was driven by my considering submitting an image or two to an open exhibition. Having looked around at the likes of http://www.beetlesandhuxley.com/ and...
I think this sounds like a really good way to get your work on show. Your rent seems very cheap by comparison with what we have to pay in UK.
However, I see high street outlet rents reducing as...

PSP doesn't have a working space for greyscale. You can desaturate to grey but I don't think you can use greyscale profiles. I could be wrong about that but If you can't see one then one wasn't...
