    For maximum starry night effect, you need to take photos with exposure as much as possible (practical limit by light pollution) such that stars with higher magnitude can show in the photograph.

    There is no problem in fitting an Imagon 250mm lens to a Sinar board, and there is also a Imagon 120mm lens which can be fitted onto a #1 shutter for use with Linhof Technika board (both 2x3 and 4x5)...

    Variable degree, IMHO the best soft effect is turning the variable aperture until the white halo just unobservable. Besides, there will be interesting bokeh with the variable aperture.

    Yeh, with a ground glass you get accurate focus but at the cost of mobility as well as a roll of film for every shot. With a rangefinder and with Fuji NPZ, I can take snapshot with T617.

    Desplite it is an expensive camera, there is no focusing aid nor exposure meter. Estimating focus or with hyperfocal setting may work with wide angle lenses like Super-Angulon 5.6/72 XL or 5.6/90...
