You do have an array of color adjustment tools in most scanner software. Also, if your system isn't calibrated the color could be off on your monitor as well.
You might call him. I'm pretty sure I've made purchases directly from the shop via a credit card. Many e-commerce sites didn't update to the new credit card selection options and defaulted to PayPal....
Probably low oxidation of the developer. There is such a thing as different changes in developers based on closed versus open environments.
It just showed up on the CatLabs site FYI. https://www.catlabs.info/product/alpha
Interesting that it is a two part mix. It doesn't appear in the typical stores in the US. I'll do some testing and plot curves when I get it.
Jobo placed an announcement on Facebook (See below) about the new Alpha Film Developer. Does anyone have any other insight? It isn't on the Jobo-USA site. 248193

I was just there and used a Hasselblad X2D. I thought about my Rollie 6006 or even my 6x17 but there were enough people wandering around without watching where they were going last time that I opted...
That depth of field is oddly intriguing. Nice.
It depends on your expectations for the images as well as the time factors you stated. I was stuck with this same issue recently (hiking with friends in a National Park) and ended up taking a (gasp)...
I had a friend who was a very successful commercial photographer. He believed that his commercial work fed the family and his Art fed his soul. It was that balance that keeps you from selling out....
I think our audience is changing. In the past, buyers and collectors of fine photography (me as an example) would pay market values for Adams, Strand, Sexton, Weston and others partially for...
5 8x10 on hikes along with a small changing tent and a box of film. For 4x5 I take 8-10 as there is room in my backpack. In 25 years, I've run out 3x due to taking multiple exposures with changing...
When I was doing commercial work, I photographed industrial and R&D lasers, combines, huge machines used to seperate materials and even chair manufacturing plants. The one thing that opened up that...
I don't love the word fake. I used to tell my students that the (properly exposed) latent image was the capture of the reality at that moment. From that point forward, it was an interpretation and...
I have struggled with this over the last few years shooting both LF film and a 100mp Hasselblad. Do you remember when, in the early 80s color "laser" images were all the rage? If I remember right,...
You've made an important point here. Normal scenes are, indeed suited for most metering (reflective on a gray card or an incident meter). What people seem to miss is that the incident meter doesn't...
I spent years teaching both the Zone System and BTZS to students and would politely disagree. We saw more issues with poor exposure (due to using the camera metering or incorrect use of handheld...
If you've seen a contact sheet of Ansel's 6x6 work, you'd see that he bracketed exposures as well. The fact is, there is quite a bit of "proper" exposure latitude in film so this discussion about how...
I use TF-4 when using Pyro developers as it doesn't affect the staining. I have been using it for years due to the lack of a need for a stop bath, hypo-clear or super long washes. Water is an issue...
I used to tell my "fine art" photography students the same thing. I suggested that if they were doing a commercial shot that they'd bracket all the time to ensure getting paid.
I recently saw a series of his Hasselblad contact sheets and was amazed at how much bracketing went on - often a stop or more for a single scene.
FWIW - The BTZS methods as we taught it at workshops took less than a day to complete. We would have the class in the morning the expose step wedges, process film then have plotted results by dinner...
Like anything else based in science (sensitometry in this case), things can be as complex or as simplistic as you'd like. The results will be a direct relationship with your understanding of the...
The V850 with a film holder that is adjusted or/and a fluid mount system will still suffer from less than optimum optics and mechanical systems over something like a Howtek or Scitex scanner. The...
I would hope it is different. I use a Scitex scanner and the results are far better than any standard flatbed but of course, the cost is 5x - 10x higher. As others have mentioned, it all comes down...
The whole point of the water bath was to provide not only some modicum of temperature control but also the random motion that allows for the even development. When Phil and I were developing the BTZS...
Wire in a fixed voltage wall supply.
A local lab switched to a dip-and-dunk system a few years ago and had this very same problem. Ask how they are processing and you'll find the answer.
You are probably not acquainted with Tin Can. He tends to post things like this just to elicit movement and response in the group. Many of the posts are vague and opinionated. I get the sense that...
We tested this one year in a class I taught at a local art center. We shot with a 6x6 camera and used a little stream outside as our subject. There were two things we discovered - shooting at 1/30 -...
You can but I'd expect residual to build up over time. You can also spray the area. I've photographed in some pretty nasty areas and never had anything in my case. Common practice is to tuck your...
I'm impressed but as someone who was in manufacturing for years running a large operation, Sigma 6 may be a bit of a reach. Good for them!
I went through the same thing. The Durst wall mount is $1000+ and $750+ used. Projecting sideways is the best solution for your back and overall image manipulation.
So helpful!

We have some properties in CO and go regularly. Beautiful scenery. I was just thinking I'd do something a bit different this year. However....
I was hoping to just drive up the main highway but your comment about traffic and too many people is a concern. I've been to many state parks and love going in off-seasons to avoid just that issue....
I'm in Texas and want to shoot fall colors this year with my 4x5 and a Hasselblad digital system. I've done NH and Colorado and wanted to find something less traveled. Does anyone in the area have...
I spent over a year researching this topic after fooling around with my V850. I have 4x5, 6x17 and 8x10 negatives that need to be scanned. Here is the culmination of what I found:
1) The 850 is...
