Jamie,
I suppose a good start would be to find an appropriate
forum in which to ask this question. The is the "Large
Format Photography Forum". While there have been some
classic sports...

It seems to me that a polarizer would help, unless you
are shooting directly towards or away from the sun.
The polarizer should darken the sky more than the diffuse
light coming from the rocks....
I had the same problem that Henry reported (but I didn't try to reinstall the flash player). I am using Firefox on Linux, and I can view other flash sites with no problem.
A lens... for bodies? You need a docter.
"Vuescan engineers"? There is only one: Ed Hamrick.
He is the author of Vuescan.
Why not send him an email with your suggestions?
(By the way, I agree that the black and white film choice...

I lived in Ann Arbor for two years ('99-'01), and I enjoyed going to the monthly meetings of the Ann Arbor Camera Club. There were a few large format photographers who showed up pretty regularly,...
Howard Bond's "Begonia" is a negative print, and he has some other abstracts (well, at least one) that are negative prints. Scroll to the bottom of this link to see "Begonia".

Someone here probably knows the answer, but you could also ask in the Toyo User Forum. Follow the link from here: http://www.macuserforums.com/
1-2-4-8-15-30-60-125-250-500... That must be the depth meter, but is it in meters or feet?
Hold on... "Made in Germany", so it must be meters. And I guess "B" means "Boat" (i.e. at the surface),...
Nice site, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
By the way, it's "glare", not "glair".

I figured I would try the simplest thing first, and that was "apply more force". I tightened it as much as a could by hand, and then used a screw driver in the "slot" that Dan mentioned to crank it...
Charley,
Here's a picture of the plate, with the black rubber pad removed. None of the holes that you see are threaded. I bought the 3047 (with the QR plate) used from KEH, and it did not come...
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try DarinWC's first. The black rubber pad is easily removed from the plate, so I'll also try it without the pad.
Brian, the problem I am having is the first one...
I recently picked up an old Calumet CC400-something, and based on some advice given in another thread, I also bought a Bogen 3047 head for my tripod. The problem I have now is that the quick release...
Just a quick "thanks" to everyone who answered Bill's question almost four years ago. I just encountered the same problem, and it was nice to find the answers already in the forum.
Thanks for the tips. I won't be going on any long treks with this camera. Mostly I'll be experimenting in my "studio" (a.k.a. living room, kitchen, etc).
Thanks for the help! I'm glad they are not as heavy as I feared.
I am planning on buying a cheap used 4x5 view camera to start
learning about LF. I see quite a few Calumet CC400/403/404s
in the used market, and one of those might work fine for me.
