Thank you.
Miniportrait as cone, helicoid and a 90? Looks like you will not be needing inspiration from this build then ;) http://www.galerie-photo.com/chambre-legere-4x5.html
And I too have used the same...
Not a regular here, that is sure. Last time I posted must be when Jim still let us see those Alberta vistas. Miss them. I hope to be able to make worthwhile contributions in future.
Made myself a...
In readiness for the WWP day I threw these parts together, made an internal spring loaded shutter and hey presto a 4x5 pinhole camera. Sinar back and IKEA plant pot make up the main parts.
...
They are reasonably well made. Lots of metal, that´s for sure. My Fuji SW 90/8 is no problem for it at all, it is rigid enough for much bigger lenses. Mine has a Copal 0 opening if I remember...
I've a Fuji SW 90 mounted on a helical used on two different DIY cameras. If I need another dedicated 90mm camera is an open question, but since you added a pinhole to the offer I might let myself be...
Personally I wouldn't crop the second one, I like the headroom above the mountains, and the foreground too.
Fossekleiva, Norway. Former textile factory and 30 odd workers' houses restored to 1899 glory. Now an arts and crafts centre, with shops, museums, galleries and artists' ateliers.
DIY 4x5 P+S...
Holy guacamole. You´ve done it again. I´m in awe of your panoramas.
Maurits. The OOF rendering on this one very nearly gives the impression this is a miniature. I like it.
Ooooooh, sweet Shailendra. NZ sure has some picturesque scenery.
Congratulations Frank, well deserved!
That's where they built "The World" isn't it.
Again, lovely tones
I for one would miss Shailandra´s 617 images very much, and even if they are off a 120 film camera, they can hardly be called MF in my book. I, myself use a DIY 4x5 P+S camera with LF optics and leaf...
Hei Tormod, hvor er dette? (where is this)?
Hei Tormod, fint sted å fordrive tiden dette. Ser du har fått resultater allerede.
I´m even more of a novice with this sort of photography than you are, so I won´t be giving you advice on...
You do get around. Nice use of the format in all cases. Letting my Celtic genes run riot with my biases, I rather preferred the Edinburgh shot, but they are all good.
Now that you mention it I see it too. Lovely picture none the less
Thank you Jim, much appreciated.
My first image post here. Only the second image to come out of the camera, I´m still testing as much as anything, and the image material isn´t all that special, but as Nana says - make the best of...
Oh well, probably just as good as any modern Sekonic, and much cheaper. I´ve two digital cameras that could be used, but the one with spot metering is a bit big (D2x). ;)
Nothing special this, but...
Nana. How did you meter the exposure (the 7min one of rocks etc)?
I´ve got a 6x12 roll film back for my 4x5 P+S, and it has masks for 6x9 and 6x7. Wouldn´t be difficult to make a mask for 6x6. What square gives you is the freedom to not having to envision...
Thanks
I particularly liked yours, the square crop works well. I use it quite a lot. Maybe I should get myself a Hassie? ;)
Ken: The picture certainly has potential to be quite good, with...
Ok, I´ll try again
Test2

I too found the image to need cropping. I agree that square cropping could be nice, but decided on...
What happened to the earlier posts?
Praise should be given when deserved. The fact that there are some very good consistent contributors here is not a bad thing. Jim, Nana, Sam et al, also are very good at sharing their knowledge with...
Goodness grief Nana. How do you get that depth of field? Even if you do attain hyperfocal focusing from 1m to inifinity, the whole picture isn´t in absolute crisp focus, but this one seems to be. You...
Is your viewing window on the left? My Dayi 6x12 back's window is on the right (same side as take-up spool) and I use 1,3,5,7,9,11 with no problems.
Ken Rockwell has a lot of opinions, but some are just common sense. Once you understand how the rating system works, anything under 99.8% is questionable, anything under 99.6% should be avoided for...
I don´t. I have built my own P+S 4x5/6x12 and bought a helicoid separately, that´s why I know they are not cheap. For each lens adapter/helicoid/viewfinder combination new, you´d be more than $250...
Whow Nana. That's just brilliant, lovely composition, tones, the lot.
Don´t shoot 120 to begin with. Your pics will not be tolerated here ;)
I have a Gaoersi helicoid (as are mounted on all your lens adapters). I´ve a Fujinon 90mm f8 on a Copal #0 shutter mounted on it, and the helicoid is as you say, slightly oversize. I centered mine as...
If you bought it on the ebay just a couple of weeks ago, you are a lucky, lucky man. If its the sale I was following the bidding was so low I was very tempted myself. The accessories alone (adapters...
And finally the current incarnation. The handle has been redesigned altogether. After the first trial run I found the existing handle to be too puny and cramped for comfort. Took design cues from one...
Thank you Nana, very much appreciated. When going through the process of thought and design, your 4x5 P+S was one of the major, if not the major inspiration. That and the pictures you were able to...
I just love all the camera´s here. Every single one has its own merits, designs where different needs find different solutions - brilliant. Some very different, some old, some new, some hand made,...
I only wish I was on the right side of the Atlantic. :(
