That is definitely a problem with Angulons, not so sure about Super Angulons or Grandagons.

The weight of a modern Fidelity Elite 10x8 dark slide is 620gm. Sorry, don't have any wooden ones. If you want pounds and ounces you'll have to do the maths yourself!

There is someone in China advertising a relatively cheap adaptor on eBay – about $200 US. See...
Yup, plus the fact that, in volumetric terms, a 10x8 is sixteen times the size of a 5x4...!
Because one can't always control flare, or at least not sufficiently. Having said that, the difference between single- and multi-coating on LF lenses is minimal – much less than the difference...
It used to be mine. Some good times, but I never managed to find time for my own work, plus the stress of dealing with some real arsehole clients led me to quit more than twenty years ago. I have...
Can you even get a 65mm lens to focus on a 7x5 B&J?
Optically they are the same, I believe, and both are single coated. The only difference, apart from cosmetics, is that the 00 shutter is harder to get fixed if it goes wrong.

I always thought it was Half Plate....
Oh yes, very Gothic...
It's working this morning, but all I could find was a new 600/800/1200 telephoto set for which he is asking GBP 1,766. A snip!
Richard
In which case what is the point of ducking? ;)
To state the obvious it's worth whatever the highest bidder is prepared to pay for it. If you are looking to get into LF you'd be better off working out what you think *you* need and then checking...
Is it on your shortlist, is it not on your shortlist, or can't you say? Despite the double negative I'll take a guess that you don't like it much ;)
Why? It's about average weight for an older...
I've never had to do it but would think something like Casey's gun-blue would be better than paint.

Great cameras – especially the MkVIII – though I'm not so sure about the lens as it will have rather limited covering power. I use 90mm S/Angulon and 150mm Symmar-S on my MPP.
For detailed advice...
Like everyone says – go and try it. It's just possible you have got a dog that has been damaged or something, but unless that it is the case you should find it an excellent lens. I have the 210 and...
Hi Steve
I've used Black on White to resurrect a Mamiyaflex shutter which had died on me (similsr problem to yours except it did it at all speeds!) and they did an excellent job. About twice the...
What the OP wants is a way to get the digital camera sensor in the film plane so that all the movements work correctly. All the suggestions for adaptors that mount the DSLR some way behind the camera...
Without consulting the Oracle, I very much doubt if a 240mm Tele-Xenar would cover 5x4in. It's even a bit tight on 12x9cms, though I suppose it would be OK for close-ups
Richard
Rather than "effective" aperture, which can have other meanings, I use the term "apparent aperture" I measure what appears to to be the aperture vierwed from the front of the lens which allows for...
What you need is the Cambo Ultima, probably with some Digitar lenses. It will probably cost you an arm and a leg but you don't get real quality for peanuts. Actually you don't get *real* quality...
Oh come on – there's a world of difference between a wooden field camera and a metal technical camera. Perhaps you should ask Toyo to customise one of their metal technical cameras for you and see...

Thanks for your detailed reply. I guess nothing is forever (except maybe herpes...)
Richard
Thanks for your reply. I gues most owners of dud Sironars dump them on eBay!
Sorry to hear of your loss. 92 is a good age, but that doesn't reduce the heartache for those left behind.

My afflicted Sironar is a fairly old one (63xxxxx number which I believe is late '60s). The Sironar is still useable but I also have a Rodagon which is probably past saving. It's serial number is in...
I have a couple of lenses with balsam faults – though not as bad as this one as they are still useable. As it happens they are both Rodenstock. I had put it down to coincidence, but perhaps it isn't?...
There's a Korona 7x5 (with 5x4 back as well) on UK eBay at the moment – it's item no 270165433463. Doesn't have a lens, but there's a few of those available too.
Richard
That's what I do – but I'm still stuck with more than I *really* need....
Do you really need to use the Copal 3 mounted lens on any other camera? If not why not just get an Arca board drilled for #3 – plenty of spare room there!
Richard
From the serial number the lens was made c1952. According to Thiele th eCompur 3 was introduced in 1955. So it wouls seem you will have to practice your "hat in front of the lens" technique, or write...
I would really recommend APUG if you're feeling outnumbered.
If I was still earning a living from photography I would have to go digital, no two ways about it. Fortunately I can choose, and I...

I agree with Frank. Shot straight on @ f22 I can't tell the difference between the Angulon and the Super Angulon in terms of sharpness (I have one of each). Obviously, if I'm doing architectural...
There are 3 formats – half-plate, 5x7inch and 13x18cm – all the holders are the same size externally (or so the theory goes), though obviously the films are different sizes so are not...
You got it: temperature control is easier with metal tanks/reels. Though having said that I only used the metal reels when I was a working photographer – sling 'em in a cage and dunk in a 3 gallon...
It's probably true though....
You could worse than check out the late Richard Einzig

I found his work inspirational in the 1970s...
From memory (I had one about 25 years ago) that model takes the large 171x171mm lens boards which are compatible with....errr...other Arcas of that vintage.
