Please, please don't get me wrong! I find it amazingly commendable that you are doing this for passion. I wish I had the confidence to do portraits like this. Like Tin Can said:
:)
150 sheets of 8x10! And I believe you don't charge the sitters?
Now that is commitment! Keep up the good work
Very interesting concept. Keep it coming!
Thanks Cameron.
Its been a while since I've logged into LFPF and I've just stumbled across this thread. Great idea!
Here is my (first) contribution:
The setup:

The image:...
No problems at all.
How did I miss this one?
I'm surprised by the power used for the lighting. I've always been of the impression that lighting requirements were a lot higher!
I like the slight "alabaster" look...
Very nice. and very well handled. Giving me inspiration!
Kodak Ektar! Love it.
Excellent start! Are these paper exposures? I'm not quite 100% sure
I am never going to learn how to use this blasted thing properly, unless I start using it.
Last Sunday on an overcast morning. My first attempt using rise and tilt.
Toyo 45A | Caltar 210mm F6.8 |...
I nearly used profanity in my reply here. Not profanity in disgust, but profanity in delight. Man, the depth in this photo! Love the setting, love the composition, love the tones.
Can I ask, is...
Hey Cameron,
I love what you have done. I love how you have done it and I love that you are doing as no strings attached, for your own enjoyment and to give back to that specific music community....
Interesting to read that those who pre-soak do it because, "that is how I was taught" and "I've always pre-soaked and never had a problem".
As the first film I ever processed was Ilford and the...
Only skim read this thread. Awesome job. Will read it a bit more indepth later, but I do like what you have done
Valid point. Large format is many different things to many people, but as I read above, either people shoot them wide open in a portrait setting or fully stopped down in a landscape setting.

Beautiful portrait!
Thanks again for the replies folks! These are great.
So, from what I can gather:
I shouldn't discount the Caltar II that I already own. As a matter of fact, I think I might get out and use...
OK, thanks for the suggestion.
Re, the image circle, would you suggest it would be OK for 4x5 with some movements?
That's the one!
WOW! I go to bed and get two pages of replies. Thanks folks!
OK, by more modern, I basically want to exclude "character" lenses for now. I also want the ability to use more modern shutters,...
TIL! (Today I learnt). I never knew the Caltar design, so thanks for filling me in.
As for it being a capable lens, yes it is. I have been relatively happy with what I have done thus far, but I...
Hi Folks,
I've been trawling the Portrait threads and have noticed that in regards to more modern lenses, there seems to be a preference to 210mm F5.6 lenses for general portrait work on 4x5.

Nice clean plates. Nice video!
Thanks
I've been importing film routinely from the US to Australia for the last 8 or so years. I've not come across an issue as of yet, but the highest speed film I have imported has been ISO 400.
Wow! I keep away from LFF for a few weeks and I what happens? This has been an absolutely stunning month (so far)! There are so many quality images in this group, there are just too many...
Thanks for looking and commenting.
The Foma was exposed between EI 100 and 120.
It was processed in Rodinal, 1:50, at 20 degrees C as follows:
5 mins pre-wash
10 mins. Agitate slowly for 1 min...
Excellent. This is something I'd like to play with as well.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm keen to build on my experience, so each time I get in the studio I am learning something new.
Cheers
OK, thanks. I know interesting effects can be achieved with tilts. The last photo as well - the depth of field and where it is - very cool.
Hi Folks,
These were shot at a recent shared studio shoot:

Nice. Really like the first two. Can I ask how you achieved the selective focus? Was this movements?
Nice. Do you mind me asking how long ago this was taken?
I think you could possibly have a market reselling them on somewhere, um, like here ;)
I believe the revolving back was an option on the 45A? I know my 45A has the revolving back on it as well (or maybe someone fitted it later - I don't know! Maybe it might be wise to ignore me ;-) )
Beautiful Jukka!
Nice work! I agree, low down, different angles, isolating details - its the only way to shoot cars, especially at car shows.
One day I'll get my 4x5 out again, to point at the general direction...
Thanks @koraks. I'm still learning how to handle the beast, so simply getting the shot was enough for me.
As for yours (& the other one you posted under nude) - very challenging photography. ...
Cheers. I had a quick look at they are probably a touch above my "lets play with this for a while" budget. But I will keep this in mind and add it to my research pile.
