If your coming south through Nevada and enter the park over Daylight Pass out of Beatty be sure a make a stop at Rhyolite. An old mining ghost town. They have fenced a lot of it off recently but...

Pbryld, don't dis-pare, it's not your fault! The majority of earthlings live where they can never see stars, at least not many. I swear that last night it was so clear out here in the desert...
Hi there,
Here's one of my very first pictures in LF, first batch sent to processing. For now, photographying with LF has been a treat.
New Orleans from the westbank of the Mississipi.

I had a step ring jam to a polarizing filter. Of course the filter wants to spin. I found a pair of nitrile groves that I use in the darkroom in my pack and bingo - came right off.
Another. Cottonwood along Kern River near Hobo Camp.

Sublime Jim!
Another variable. How would it be affected by temperature in the field?
Check out Badger Graphics. They have an Ortho Halftone Grade film they call Lith Camera Film. It is pretty reasonable. They listed it in their Graphic Arts catalog but you have to call them to order...
Brian, There is a lot of smoke in Lonepine right now, worst in the mornings. In a month your guess is as good as mine. We just had a thunder storm roll through here with some rain. If the lightning...
Hi all, I work in Kernville and the smoke has been bad. This is not going to die out anytime soon, they are letting this fire burn. Only 130 firefighter on a 20,000+ acre fire with 15 percent...
To know him was to love him. Last time I saw him, he told me the cane was just a prop to gain sympathy. :D
Will miss him.

Eric, The big white box is just a cabinet. Under the timer is a whomped together vacuum frame/UV expose unit. It is an old print shop plate maker and the light unit from a UV acrylic exposure unit...
Yes it is Fred. Makes for easy on the forearms. Not my original idea.

Hi Rick. It's is a Baldwin SF10 about 30 years old, my wife's instrument. She is the real musician in the house.
While not an art photo, an exposure test actually, this is my personal instrument. It is approximately 120 years old and had machine tuners on it at one time. Hence the short pegs in enlarged holes...
Excellent Gabor! The development looks very even for such long times. Could you share a little about your technique? Thanks, Jim
The old church at Randsburg, California. Randsburg is an old gold mining town in the Mojave desert, today described as a "living ghost town".

Beautifully unpretentious and sensitive. The coordination of colors helps give a sense of serenity.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Jim. I am new to 4x5 and had to leave a darkroom behind several years ago. Until I can get a new darkroom built, the Jobo 3010 drum is my only option for processing...

Very expressive photograph Patrick. I'm curious as to your multiple exposure technique. How many and what intervals if you don't mind. Surely effective here.

...and how do you meter for ISO 0.8 if you don't mine.
Mr Ambrose, I am curious how you use TF-4 for paper? I use it one shot in a Jobo expert drum for film but have assumed it to be too costly for paper in a tray.
I got the opportunity view Jon's portfolio in person just recently and was very impressed. Many of his pieces invite the eye to linger and discover more and more. An example is a mountain scene in...
My Schneider 135mm Componon S has 42.5mm threading as best I can measure. My LPL 4x5 enlarger has 39mm lens disc. How can I adapt these?
Wonderful work both here and on your website. The series on the accordian festival is very expressive.
Hi Jeff, I lived in Crescent City for 14 years and it is a reasonably priced place to hang out. As Vaughn suggested don't miss Howland Hill Road, the Smith River and the beach at CC has a great view...
Oooh, that's my kind of photo. I love finding natural designs and you have composed and exposed this one perfectly.
I lift while the unit is rotating but turn off the motor before lowering the tank. Don't know why. Just my policy I guess.
