Well, it's not a blog, but my homepage.
All photos are shot using a LF (4x5" Sinar F2).
As always I'm a bit left on updating my photos, but I have some 100 shots from summer...
Now, I know why the image looked really pale.
I had accidently set to use the proofed image as source space (and it was a pale proof).
Now I just love the printer and the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk....
Ok, you can call me stupid (or at least my wife does).
I went to a big city in Sweden and ended up buying the big horse.
I have only printed one copy on a Ilford Gold Fibre Silk and it came out...
Thanks all for your input. I can understand that I won't get an exact copy of a darkroom-print. But my main concerne is that the ink-jet doesn't even look close.

Hi,
I am tempting to buy an Epson 3800 and since I haven't seen a B&W print from that machine (and I don't have the opportunity in my town), especially not with my own digital files, I have a...
Joseph, I used Tri-x 320 rated @ 320. The aperture was f/5.6
I don't remember, but I guess I was one to two meters from Ellen (the image is not cropped).

My Latest of my daughter, Ellen.
This is taken at a beach in southern Sweden.
A couple of minutes before this was taken I took another photo of Ellen.
She moved a bit out of the frame and...
Always B.
I have noticed that the subject usually don't move that much, and I can at the same time talk too them calmly (sp?) and tell them to blink one more time.

Thanks all, I just love this thread. Keep 'em coming.

I have finally started to develop the summer's negative in my darkroom (read kitchen).
This was taken on a wonderful beach at the south of Sweden. Since the next land is Germany (and you can't see...
It's really fun to see all the portraits here.
I include one of my baby-boy and his mother.
Sinar F2 4x5" 180 mm lens (I never learn me the name of the lens, but I think it's called Caltar II)
...
And man he not only sees inside and through the lens. But I feel that he is inside my eyes too.
Just plain wonderful.

Kerik. That's a wonderful image. I really love the Wet plate look and I can just imaging how much fun it has to be to do it.

speanburgarts: That's wonderful. She looks so vulnerable (sp) and at ease at the same time.

I agree with David about Kentmere VC Fiber. The glossy surface is wonderful (I airdry it). It is also the most flat paper I have ever used.

Welcome Jess,
I supose you could use the old camera as a meter before you have one, but as you know you have to compensate for various readings depending on the area you read at.
Anyway,...
That you should listen to your heart. If someone else think your images are bad, just ignore them. As long as you feel happy the images are as they should be.

One of the best child-portrait I have ever seen.

Amund, Barbeque and photography at the same time. It sounds really fun. Wonderful portraits as well.

Great thread. Since I only do portraits I just love every one of yours.

But let say that I have done it this was and in the GG I see the horizon running through the models head (The lens is placed at the same height as the models head). But what happend if I rises the...
I just sat in my darkroom with my finger soaked in some juicy developer and I just started to think if the position of the lense alone decide where the horizone goes.
I have just come home from...
OT
Stephan: Lovely image. I really like that you see only a part of the other person.
When it comes to using the "wrong" darkslide. I have done that and the negative was already exposed.
I'm sure that you will learn by doing all misstakes (and I bet the gurus sometimes do the...
I use a rectangular and sometimes the wind can be a problem.
One funny thing though, is that when I have focused or is about to use it and have it on my back over my shoulders (with the white side...
Jock Sturges never uses a meter. But that's not for the extra weight, but when he sees a scene he want to take a photo direct and not wasting time to meter.
But I don't know if his negatives are...
Steve: It's ok. I won't hate you for saying that :)
I use an 180 mm lens and I usually only take photos of one persons (and I don't use advanced focus with shift tilt and such), but I was more...
Thanks Brian (and rest)

Hi,
I have a Calumet changing bag, but I feel that eventhough I vacuum it I will still contamine it with dust-parts from my skin.
I have tried to keep the holder within a platstic bag and just...
What I ment with my question is this:
Say that you are in a hurry (you will photograph a group of kids playing and you don't want to interfere with them.
I will not have time to measure my...
When I have looked at the numbers provided by the DOF calculator it seems that the DOF is a bit longer in the far distance than near distance, so in my example shouldn't I focus a bit closer than the...
Hi,
I wonder if I focus on an object three meters away will the DOF be the same for the same distance?
However it shouldn't be since I can only move three meters towards me and beyond the lens...
I agree with Steve.
I have not build a Bender my self, but used one. Actually I have build six different where I have changed the design myself.
But recently I bought a Sinar F2 for $500...
Ok, I'm still a newbie (aren't we all), but I just hopped this would be a good example, but maybe not. I still get spaghetti all over me when Ellen is standing up though.
But thanks for pointing...
In this photo you may see it a bit. Don't you think that Ellen's hand look a bit to long (I know it's out of focus, that shouldn't matter, right)?
...
Yes, both the model, the front and back was parallell. The camera was parallell with the ground (so it was not tilted) and I dropped the front to make sure that Ellen's feet was shown in the picture....
Ok, maybe because I don't recognize the strange brand then :)
Anyway have you all noticed this phenomenen (the lens I mean :) )?
Caltar II-N 180 (If I don't write any letters wrong).
/ Marcus
It didn't occured to me at that time and I shoot B&W so I can't see now :)
