Good pictures Jim! Looks like another good trip to Japan.

Hi Garrett
Thanks - it was a great trip with a few "minor inconveniences".
Like having two auto accidents with the rental car. One was on me when I just barely got too far to the left and ticked the side mirror of another car - wound up spending two hours at the police station. Although the cops were pretty amiable, the paperwork was ferocious. The second when one of our Japanese friends was driving down a narrow ramp to a traditional sea salt producer and veered off the ramp and took the Prius "off-road" down an embankment and across a concrete curb, tried to back up and slammed into an evaporation tank and cracked the whole rear bumper. He returned the rental car and had to pay a $200 penalty (not covered by insurance) to compensate the car rental company for the loss of use of the vehicle for two days. Something to bear in mind should you ever rent a car in Japan. Which by the way is an excellent way to tour the rural parts of the country - excellent roads, no traffic, no buildings in sight for thirty minutes at a time. pets sleeping in the middle of the road, etc. Once you're out of the major cities it's a different world.
And like being sick as the proverbial pooch the whole trip - Yukie had to be hospitalized as soon as we landed in Tucson with a horrendous case of Pneumonia (she's home now and recovering nicely) and I had a foul cold followed by an ear infection that's taken almost three weeks to clear up. And it rained almost every day. Did I mention that it was a great trip? Really. It was.
I'll post a write-up in the travel section soon.
Oooops, that sounds like a really great trip ;-))
Sorry for all your inconveniences!
That makes journeys so unpredictable.
Must remember to never travel with Jim.

On the other hand we saw a part of Japan neither of us had been to before - a small peninsula that sticks out into the Sea of Japan, and it was worth the "inconveniences". Saw a lot of friends and family as well. And got some good photos. Cherry blossoms this year were fantastic. My wife's only disappointment was that we only spent one night at Wakura Onsen instead of two or three.
Lots of potential here! I'd be tempted to visit and crop way tighter with soft focus and get the reeds in the foreground and the wind turbines in the background with a blue sky and orange/red filter. Or small format at sunset with warm light on the windmill in the background and warm light lighting one side of the reeds.
here's a recent one with my D600/Sigma hsm 50. The first part of spring here is the unthawing of what winter has done, along with wind and rain that rips trees out of the ground and apart. Later in spring is blooming flowers and petals the things like that.

Nice shot Jeff. Getting a little hot in AZ now, we have to shoot at night for the next 6 months!
