    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

I'm in France right now for a show but here are a few pics of my darkroom and I changed the setup since then by removing the UV burner to a different room, putting away the focomat that I am using less and less.
The D2 is rigged for 6x7 and 11x14 print size.
D6 and D5xl rigged for 20x24 print sizes.
There is space for an 8x10 enlarger if I take the plunge.
I usually process 2 11x14 at the same time in a 20x24 tray to maximise the lith developer. And I expose one 20x24 when the other is in the tray also to speed up and maximise the chemistry.
Wash and toning are done in the back not seen in the pictures.
As for processing film, Love the Sp445. I have a bunch of them and process 2 tanks at the same time.
My daily routine is 8 shots. Process them at the end of the day. Printing the next day. Shooting the other day and on and on.
When I go on a trip and come back with lots of film I have the 2Gal tanks setup that make then much more sense.
Messy darkroom... But it works fine :-)

    Will,
Paper is my obsession and treasure ! What you see is only 11x14... Lith made me look for all kind of papers to get different textures or colors. When I decide which paper I use for a series I need a bunch of it otherwise it goes nowhere. I look everyday and I replenish all the time. Most difficult to get now is 20x24 but I'm fine for a while. I love to use vintage papers, they have so much radical personalities, and it feels amazing to prints on papers that are sometime older than me. As for the studio size, I live in a loft and 95% of the place is photo related. Somewhere there is a bed :-)

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

Been slowly working on turning a PORTION of an outbuilding/workshop we have into a darkroom for as long as my job has us in New Jersey. I share the space with my wife. I found an outstanding photographic dark cloth hanging system (from a track placed along the ceiling) and have over too long a period of time been building it out. It’s just about ready for prime time printing, or at the very least my limited abilities! I’m excited to have a space that is dedicated and has me out of the bathroom. Happy to answer any questions or defend any stupid decisions that you see from my pictures! Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos.
