I think you're right. The clean converging lines of the bridge and its reflection are interrupted by the spindly bushes which compete for the viewer's attention. (Just my two cents.) But hey, it happens. I'd like to say that all of my shots come out how I hope they will, but I'd be lying. At least you learn this way.

How do you like the 47mm XL? That is one of those lenses I've always wanted to own.

It's awesome, but it's hard to focus, hard to compose, and just plain hard to use. It doesn't help that there isn't a lot of open terrain here. I need to practice more with it. Also, I need to figure out a way to use a GND.

Beautiful image, was this without the use of a graduated filter as I heard that Portra 400 has wide exposure lattitude?

Wow, wonderful photo AbsolutelyN! The sense of light is just fantastic. Curious, also, about how it was handled. I'd like to try pushing Portra 400 like that.

Really nice photo. I like the blurred movement of the foreground foliage. Good that you went ahead and made the exposure despite the wind. It adds drama to the bottom, to match the drama of the sun and clouds on the top.

Thanks. I used a polariser to slow the shutter to around a 1/4 second to capture the movement in the foreground, it may also have had a centre filter. The image is unfiltered regarding graduated filters. I'd say Portra has 16 to 18 stops of latitude based on my own basic tests with 35mm film. It can get grainy in the over exposed areas so use of a 1 stop grad can help.

One more, same moorland location. Also taken on Portra 400NC but converted to b/w, 47mm XL.
