Day in and day out what is your favorite aperture or the most used apeture with a 4x5 view camera? Do you try to use one aperture more than another?
Thanks,
Jerry

f22
f22, followed by f32 then f45 (depending on the les). I can shoot hand held at f22 with HP5

Usually f/22, occasionally smaller or larger. Smaller for small aperture process lenses to cover focusing errors.
Wide open.

I've been waiting for that.
I bought dialyte lenses as I could... then plasmats for wider needs. The dialyte Ektar and Fujinon-C's (and others) are reputed to be excellent wide open... and closed down to f/22 or smaller. I'll try to never shoot faster than f/11 with the plasmats (mostly SA XL's).
The dialytes I bought are corrected for infinity (or nearly infinity) focus which is how I'll be shooting.
All my lenses seem to always be shot wide open.
The widest aperture that gets everything in focus with movements, without losing coverage.n 4x5 its often 22, but sometimes 16 cuts it. On 8x10, same deal often 32, but I'm very happy when I can get it all with 22 to minimize defraction. For me its a balancing act between getting everything I want in focus a while not negatively affecting sharpness.
