    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Hope it's ok to post this. I don't consider it a repost since it's a drum scan by Lenny Eiger, which is fantastic!

Well I finally finished editing this drum Scan. On 4x5 Velvia 50 from Great Sand Dunes NP in September. I am surprised at the color casts I had in my original: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zboumee...57626457305442

I tried to keep the mountains more neutral as well as the sky. Glad I am finally done editing, it took forever. Just getting rid of the small bits of sand/dust took over 6 hours. I would have liked to keep the vignetting less noticeable in the lower right. Not sure if it's the scan or my processing but the drum scan has much better detail in the highlights of the sky.

I liked your original scan but Lenny's is fantastic.

Sweet Zaitz, the Lenny scan does justice to this chrome.

Thank you both. I was quite happy with this final edit but now I am unsure. I may have to re-edit it again. Starting to dislike the direction I took it, especially in the shadows. But it took forever to edit. Literally spent a few weeks on it off and on. Lenny's scan is definitely great though. Wish I had more to send him.

Zaitz, I personally liked the sky being more blue as in your original. It played off of the blue shadows in the dunes better. But that is just my opinion. The tonality of the scan is certainly fantastic.

Zaitz - Inspirational to say the least. Beautiful work, and a brilliant scan.

I am not sure if these 4x5 can be posted in this thread or not.
These were taken with a Chamonix Saber which does not have any movement.
