I would appreciate any recommendations for backpacks for an 8x10" camera. I have a Ansco/Agfa which, I believe, doesn't fold up as compactly as a Dierdorff or Wisner. I would also like it to hold about 10 film holders, meters, filters, darkcloth, and other assorted stuff.
I use a Tamrac backpack for my 4x5" Wisner Technical Field and I am extremely happy with except that I can't actually fit the camera in it...lol. I just carry all my accessories, lenses, film holders, and everything else in theTamrac and carry the camera mounted to my tripod over my shoulder. To transport the camera itself (in the car, and for storage), I just use an Igloo cooler - the type that is shaped like a house with a sloped roof where the handle is at the ridge and it swivels to open. I just grabbed it to temporarily carry my camera when I first got it years ago and it has worked so well that I never saw any reason to change. I just wrap the camera in the darkcloth and it fits in as snug as a bug. Shock resistant, sheds rain (but not waterproof!) and it doesn't attract attention. But the 8x10" on my Ries A series tripod will be a little heavy for hiking so I would like to get a bag that will hold the camera and the rest of the stuff. Then I could just toss the tripod over my shoulder.
I'll appreciate any recommendations that anyone might have.
Thanks. This forum is wonderful!
