    Polaroid/Fuji Instant Film Question

I have been using Polaroid sheet 4x5 film for about 25 years. And like many of you who also once did, I am looking for a replacement. I recently found the Fuji 4x5 instant pack film listed at a couple of dealers. Can I assume my old 545 holder is now relegated to the "antique" shelf or will this film work in my old holder?

Also is this the only instant emulsion made by fuji?

Any help would be most appreciated!

    Re: Polaroid/Fuji Instant Film Question

Fujifilm make various pack film instant films, in two sizes. If you have old Polaroid holders, like the 405 or 550, then you can use Fuji Instant pack films. Fujifilm reps have commented that they are not interested in making individual sheet instant films.

Do a search for Fuji Instant on this forum, and you will find many recent posts with lots more information. The most readily available Fuji Instant is FP100C, which has a larger size called FP100C45. There is also an FP100B, which is B/W instant. These three are currently available in North America and EU, though Fuji have even more available choices in Japan.

Good luck finding the 4x5 Fuji film holder -- been on backorder for months and months!

    Re: Polaroid/Fuji Instant Film Question

I have a Polaroid 550 for the larger Fuji instant, and currently use that with FP100C45. However, I got this last year prior to the Polaroid announcement, and the back was quite reasonable in price. Now almost any Polaroid 550 back goes for quite a bit.

Unless you really want the slightly larger instant film, I would suggest sticking to the smaller packs. The smaller packs will fit in a Polaroid 405 back, and are much lower cost per shot.

New ones are being made at the moment, I think they were caught out by demand after the demise of Polaroid

The actual product name for helping to search on ebay is Fujifilm PA45 holder. This back holds a cassette containing 10 sheets.

The current state of 4x5 instant film and back choice is well covered in the previous responses to your post.

However, you CAN use your old 545 back with Fuji quickload films, and although not quite as good a choice as a real quickload back, would enable you to shoot these convenient fuji film choices for darkroom processing. Films such as Velvia and Acros are available in quickload configurations.

Thank you Gene. I did only a superficial search before posting this question. I guess I should have looked more thoroughly.

I have been using fujifilm quickload film in my old polaroid holder for quite a few years too.

    Thanks again,

    Re: Polaroid/Fuji Instant Film Question

Got my PA 45 back from Japan (used) in August. Though I guess I was still on B&H's email list. I just got an email from them this last Friday that they got some in stock. Just in case anyone still needs one.
