Thank you, Gordon, for the knowledge, the formulas, and the spark. You made a lasting mark on the world of film development, especially for those of us working in 4×5. You’ll be remembered and appreciated.

Sad news. Thankyou Gordon for all the wisdom imparted to those of us exploring Pyro.

Your book is well-thumbed and a constant reference for me.

Such an amazing contribution Gordon Hutchings has made for all of us...building upon past "pyro methodologies" to create something more useful, practical, and versatile for more "modern" film stocks. I'd had a couple of nice conversations with Gordon in years past - one of which included his showing me a number of his wonderful prints...perfectly illustrating the strengths of his PMK formula and process.

Terribly sad to come across this news. Gordon presented at the first Large Format Conference in 1999 in New Mexico and his graciousness personality and his high level of communication instantly connected to the audience. Further conferences, his numerous published articles and his Book of Pyro elevated Gordon to the reverent position he deserved. Gordon was the real deal. RIP

My Condolences to Gordon's family and friends.

I never met Mr. Hutchings but had the great pleasure to see many of his beautiful silver prints made from large format negatives at the Photographers Formulary. His book on PMK is an important book on Pyrogallol based film developers that resulted in a revival in the 1990s in the use of staining developers.

    May he rest in peace.
