I'd suggest looking into having center filters made to bypass the need for the "fan". Modern manufacturing technologies may have made them economically practical.

Will be cool if they decide to make a 150mm version, which will be nice ultra wide angle for 8x10.

metrogon 6in is a cheap solution for 8x10. Also there are super angulon/nikkor sw/grandagon at this focal length.
