    Hi Bibb,

    Thanks for your contributions! Nice.

I have a friend whose Father knew Shulman, because he lived nearby to him. He was also an accomplished photographer, so he appreciated Shulman and his work. He FREAKED OUT when I mentioned I was a fan. I have all of Shulman's books and the excellent video (it's great narrated by Dustin Hoffman). Even have a homemade looking book which shows the construction of his home, in many detailed construction photos. I also enjoy Ezra Stoller's work (he used 8x10 Norma too). Stoller's work is completely different from Shulman's, he preferred more rectilinear views to my eyes. Some look almost like architectural drawings.

8x10 Sinar Norma Julius Shulman Titlall Setup 1 by Nokton48, on Flickr

My 8x10 Norma works good on this, just don't bump it, and it's fine. This is right out of Shulman's book, it worked for him, and it works for me. He would tilt the camera, then level the standards, so he was using indirect movements. Might be sturdier that way. This one has the 121mm F8 Norma Rabbit Ear Shutter lens. Mucho Deluxe-O. And 8x10 Sinarsix TTL Metering.

It is beautifully made and emotionally moving.

Leitz Tiltall Ball Head New Bubble Level by Nokton48, on Flickr

I JB Welded this small bubble level ($1.00 on Amazon). This adds a level of precision when adjusting the tripod. So Glad with these I ordered a bunch more.

Plaubel Peco Junior 100mm Bag Bellows Adjustable Viewing Unit by Nokton48, on Flickr

The lens is a 100mm Plaubel F3.9 Supracomar, it normally would be attached to a 9x12cm Avus folder. On the Peco Junior the circle is plenty big enough for full camera movements. The Adjustable Magnifer on the back, allows me to see right side brightly, or with a shift, left side brightly. Leitz Ball head attached to an early Leitz Tiltall, notice I JB Welded a Bubble level to help level the legs. I could hike for miles with this thing if I wanted to, folded up it's easy to carry around with one hand! A small padded bag for holders and backs, and I am set. I also have a custom made E Sony Digital APSC Back for this camera, which also works quite well in the field.

Leitz Tiltall Machined to fit Makina IIIR perfectly by Nokton48, on Flickr

I used my machinist's band saw to cut the home made mounting plate, epoxied together many decades ago. Now it perfectly fits getting my fingers to the wind knob of my Plaubel Makina IIIR with 7.3cm Wide Orthar. With Makina Ground glass and a good Loupe, I can use it like a Mini View Camera, uber light weight, I can carry it around with one hand, without any straining. Deploys solidly, just add Prontor Cable Release and it's all original. Hooray, with good tripod I can test lenses with confidence. Fun ahead.

7.3cm Makina IIIR Star D Prontor Cable Release Leitz Ball Head by Nokton48, on Flickr

This is extremely portable Makina IIIR 7.3 Wide Angle Leitz Ball Head Star D LIGHWEIGHT tripodd. I can carry this around all day, and set it up quickly with great ease. The Long Prontor Cable Release finishes this off. Great for testing the different lenses I have in the field, it's better with a tripod. With this ine I even snap on an Olde Hippy Guitar Strap, and I can sling it all day that way (and I have). BTW the Orthar 7.3 is an optic that holds it's own with some others I own. A very sharp lens indeed.
