    Copy Stand 5x7 Enlarger project

I’ve had the idea for this for some time now, but today I got picked up a Bencher heavy duty copy stand that looks like wit will do the trick. I wanted to attach the 5x7 camera and then make a negative carrier and light source to turn it into an enlarger. Here is a picture of my starting point.

I wasn’t expecting to get the stand for $40 bucks at a garage sale, so am not really looking to start the project immediately. Using a flash light I tested to see how it would work, and found that it will be able to project a 12x16 inch image on the base using my Kodak 203mm f7.7 lens. I have used this lens before on an old Elwood enlarger with good results, but we will see when we get there if I will be purchasing a dedicated enlarger lens.

Sorry about the sideways picture. I’m note able to make it right on my iPad for some reason.

Yup! Lucky day. I am primarily wanting it to use my iPad to digitize prints to post on forums.

I've been looking for a cheap copy stand to use my 8x10 as an enlarger, I bought a 10x12 inch PortaTrace from B&H for a light source and plan on knocking the center out of an old wooden film holder for the negative carrier. I have a 210mm process lens that is supposed to cover 8x10. I also plan to fabricate a pair of wooden spacer boxes for the negative stage and light source to sit on the camera.

I thought about the film holder negative carrier for negative holder idea, but might try using an old graftex enlarger light and they have a negative carrier included.
