Per P-H Pont's chronology, it was made around 1890. The VM agrees.

Sorry, I can't suggest which cameras it might have been used on. Can't imagine there was only one, could be mistaken.

    HI Dan
    Thanks for the reply.

I am new to all this, what is
    P- H Pont's chronology ?

    What is the VM ?

Am I right to assume that the plate size of the camera used would be 10 x 8 "?
    Thanks for your time.

Patrice-Herve Pont is a French writer on photography. His book Les Chiffres Cles has a set of chronologies for many camera and lens makers. I got mine from FNAC. I think it is long out of print.

VM. A Lens Collector’s Vade Mecum. A book originally published on CD ROM, now
    available as a download from https://www.antiquecameras.net/lensvademecum.html ~
700 pp. Idiosyncratic, incomprehensible, inconsistent, sometimes incorrect, often
    infuriating, invaluable.

    If it is engraved "10 x 8" it is for 10 x 8. 8 x 10 in the US.
