Excellent shots tuco.
Last night we went to the synchronous fireflies at Congaree NP. You have to win a lottery to get in, and then they don't allow tripods. I worked with some long exposures and composited an impressionistic photograph. I was pretty disappointed that they didn't allow tripods. I went in 2019 before they shut down general admission and used a tripod with no issues, even though there was way more people.
On a related note, I specifically set my camera to not show a review image after shooting, and never looked at my screen. I shot all of this blind, just guessing, at waist level. I was very annoyed as there was 4-5 photographers constantly looking at their cameras and reviewing images with the bright screen, which absolutely destroyed my night vision and scared the fireflies away. Despite all these rules and regulations (no lights, only dim red flashlights allowed which they provided) it really didn't matter. I even saw two folks take their cell phone out and try to take a photo, and of course the phone tried to use the flashlight to autofocus which just strobed the whole forest. It seems like back in 2019 and before it was not a well-known event and only those "in the know" came, and I remember I was one of the few people messing around with a camera. It's really dark when it's happening and even an f/1.4 lens at 1600 ISO needs minutes of exposure to get anything but faint yellow pinpricks. Hence there's almost no images of this event before 2019.
