Sorry, that's pinhole Sunday.
Sorry, that's pinhole Sunday.
Thanks for the private messages I have gotten from Large Format Photography Forum users about the Midwest Large Format Asylum annual print review gathering in Chesterton, Indiana. We are meeting April 26 and 27 this year. All with an interest in LF are welcome - to come and display or view. No registration fees.
The Facebook page for MWLFA has all the details or you can still reach out to me with a private or public message on this site for details.
Looking forward to seeing any Large Format Photography Forum members at the upcoming Midwest Large Format Asylum event April 26 and 27 in Chesterton, Indiana. Midwest Large Format Asylum (MLFA) print review is an informal gathering of large format photographers to present their prints in a relaxed setting. It provides a platform for non-competitive exhibition exclusively meant for appreciation and constructive feedback.
We have added an optional shooting event Sunday morning, April 28, at the beautiful Indiana Dune for those of you staying over on Saturday night.
Update to the presenters on Friday night:
"Success with X-ray film in Large Format Photography". Diwan Bhathal will talk about his progress with using LF X-ray film as a cost effective alternative to conventional photography films.
“Museum as Studio” by Hillary Irene Johnson.
For those who have not been the MWLFA event before, you can get a good flavor of it on Craig Sheaks' video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxGL06EnuNw
If you are interest in attending or have any questions, please reply to this posting.
Had a great time at this year's print review. 17 people showed a great variety of prints. Thanks to the organizers who made it all run very smoothly. Inspired me to start planning to do large format photography for next year's review.
Sorry to have missed it! It took the birth of a brand new grandchild to keep me away !!!

Chuck - it was a pleasure to see you again - and your work. Nothing as good as real conversation and real prints. We have posted a summary of Diwan’s talk about his work with using x-ray film in his LF work. Perhaps we will get around to summarizing Rick Tapio’s presentation about matching up negatives with the right paper. Keeping checking the Midwest Large Format Asylum facebook page for updates.

Thank you to Francis, Debejyo, and the rest of the MWLFA crew for being so welcoming to this photographer from the south. I had a great time meeting you all, sharing photos and taking some too. It's a pretty good trek from Nashville but a great excuse to make a photo week out of it. Here's to next year!

Will, Thank you for taking the effort to join us, and I enjoyed your images. I could also relate to your opening comments about LF photography (in essentially all phases of the process) being a "solo sport," but you occasionally like to join others in Print Review gatherings like this one the MWLFA has done for nearly 20 years. We hope to see you again at future Print Reviews. 'Best regards
