My favorite vintage/junk store was getting ready to scrap out a NuArc copy camera after being unable to sell it for several years, so I talked them out of the lens and shutter.
Yes, I wanted the entire thing but no room left at the Inn!
I have seen various postings here and on other sites that the 8 1/4 (212mm EFL) f8 lens is capable of covering 8x10, so I hope to try it on my Calumet C1 eventually. I have seen other examples with Ilex branding, but this lens simply has "8 1/4" NuArc" on the aperture plate and engraved on the lens. It's not pristine, some cleaning marks and a bit of haze, but it was cheap. It looks fairly modern; any guesses as to who made it?
I also grabbed the electric solenoid operated shutter. Almost sure it has to be a Packard variant; does anyone know if Packard made these for NuArc? Still pondering how to convert the lever-based movement to a bulb or maybe replace it with a DC solenoid. How about an Ardino-powered, electronic shutter with selectable shutter speeds?
Scheming to reunite them on the C1 but it will take some skullduggery and hacksaws to make it happen.
