I've been described by a young friend as being "inspirationally sick". A compliment I think LOL

TC,
When my kids say "that's sick" it's a compliment.

This forum is excellent. APUG seems to have more and more people that tend to debate plastic or glass, agitation etc. I often scan my peepers on LFPF for relief, and people who dare great things. Like building a Deardorff 11x14 commercial camera from scavenging parts from Chicago bone yards.
Elite maybe, Mad absolutely! (A good thing)
Perhaps the actual meanings of the words "elite" and "elitist" fall on a scale from "somewhat" to "completely" different?
Perhaps one could, by simply not following the masses (thinking of a single "LF-er" in a sea of "I-Phone-ers"), be defined as being "in the elite," whereas someone who is "elitist" is more of a "poseur?"
Elite as fact...vs elitist as tendency?
Or maybe someone who is truly "in the elite," but who also sees others as somehow "lesser" beings, is also an "elitist?" Perhaps an "elitist" is (therefore) inherently insecure? Hmmm
I'm not quite sure what is meant by an "Elitist" or being an "Elite", except that it seems to be one kind of snobbery insulting another kind. Perhaps an Elitist is someone with the ambition to go beyond making a homemade Dorff, and who follows through on an old Popular Mechanics feature article telling you how to build your own nuclear submarine using recycled washing machine parts.
