Is this really sharp edge to edge when enlarging 5x7? (It is listed as a 5x7 lens in old Schneider catalogues.)
I normally use a 210mm Nikkor, but that one is huge and below lens VC filters won't work with it.
Thanks.

Nikon, Rodenstock, Schneider, and Dyotar (Fuji) all sold 180mm enlarging lenses intended for 5x7" so they all thought the focal length was adequate.
The Ilford filters come in 6" square if you want. I'm doing more or less what ic-racer is doing , with a 210 Schneider. Currently I'm just resting them on an empty red-filter holder, but there's a design I'm going to get rapid-prototyped, like a small box to hand from the existing ring. In this case I'll cut the filters down to about 120mm square, but they could go smaller and still work with that lens.
It isn't an issue of the filters being big enough in acreage. The swing out holder can accommodate a lens just so tall with hitting the lens when you try to swing it over. I have the big sheet Ilford filters, which I can put up top but that really slows things down. Maybe I should try a 210 G Claron in barrel?
210mm Nikkor is a nice lens. Recessed lensboard or longer shaft on the filter holder.
Which enlarger?
The Beseler column model with the 8x10 head.
