I notice on old film the edges, supposed to be clear, have a grey tinge. I understand that it may be cosmic rays which are everywhere on our planet. Some have said it’s something called muons.
When I use new film the edges are very clear compared to the old stuff. Might I mention this is with black and white film.
At any rate here is some reading material from NASA.

I am not Pro, I am Hobbyist
I also use the 'worthless' X-Ray film
Many here kept yelling at me to never use it
there is a ditty, I just recalled
"People talking to me trying to tell me how to live!
I don't listen to them as my head is like a sieve..."

I setup 1,000,000 MTS Rock Crusher hidden inside Northwestern college for Electromotive tests
Ever seen or used Fujifilm Prescale Film
Tin Can
Used to drive by MTS each day when going to work back in the ‘70’s. I lived with my parents a short while after getting out of the Navy to save money for a down payment on a town house.
Have Fuji black and white film mainly 120 Acros. It’s getting old just like me!
I liked how MPLS had Sin city, Punk, big music venues all in the same place
One stop shopping
I preferred Loring Park 25 years ago
The restaurant was all smashed up on purpose to be arty
Mother lived in Loring Park before marriage
Then LA to be a 'Rosy the Riveter' living a tiny Teardrop
Father caught a mortar and never saw the enemy
He survived, in hospital for 1 year
Life was hard, I bet we get worse

George Hurell used a ton of expired film ... and his work is legendary.
I made my way through both a junior college and university program using recently and semi-recently-expired film.
When you're broke as a joke, you save where you can.
I still use outdated film, but mostly because it has been discontinued... and besides, I gotta save money to support my SK Grimes habit.
