If you mean make a subforum invisible, afraid I don't know of any way to do that.
EDIT: Looks like this is wrong, see below.

I think of this whole thing as "THE FORUM". I'd like to block the next level, such as ANNOUNCEMENTS, CAMERAS, DARKROOM, etc.
Yes, those are what I'm calling "subforums". I don't know of any way to hide individual subforums.
I do it like this:
http://www.largeformatphotography.in...clude=17,22,18
Those numbers on the end are the subforum numbers. One of those is "the lounge" for example. But I did this like 20 years ago. I no longer remember how to find the subforum numbers. The moderators might know, or might know how to find out. IDK.

Thanks, Bruce. Yes, you can construct custom searches in that way, though that gives you posts from all of the included subforums jumbled together. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that what Eric was looking for is a way to make subforums disappear from the main Forum index page.
For those who would like to construct custom searches: you can extract the subforum number from the subforum URL. For example, the Lounge is:
Must be a switch in there somewhere. The FOR SALE subforum can be blocked for new users. I did a deep search and found an old reference to do this. Involved MY PROFILE, and some other sub menus, one of which is no longer there. Thank y'all for trying. E
I find it easier and almost as effective to ignore individuals rather than consider ignoring a whole subforum.
Yes, that option is always available. For those who aren't familiar: if you open the "Forum Actions" menu under the "Forum" tab in the menu bar, then select either "General Settings" or "Edit Profile", you will get to a screen with a "My Settings" menu box at the left. Select the "Edit Ignore List" item.
MEA CULPA!
Looks like I was wrong about this - I've discovered another admin panel setting that I've never used before that appears to allow me to turn off access to individual subforums for a member without changing their Usergroup. I'm happy to test this with anyone who would like to try turning off one or more subforums - just PM me.
Apologies for the bad information and thanks to Eric for raising the question and eventually getting me to dig deeper on this.
