I made a DIY Head Steady
It takes a few trials to find the eye focus
but then my lens does not work at that distance
focus must be on the nose, to sharpen the eyes

RE a laser RF:
I have seen a thread here . . .a long time ago . . .where someone had replaced the little flashlight bulb in a speed graphic's RF with a little red lLED aser bulb. It cast a split beam red laser onto the subject. When in focus, the two beams would coincide to make one spot.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!
The best way to focus any camera is a measuring tape provided you can get to your subject. and know the focal length of your lens. Start be setting infinity focus and measuring the distance back to the film plane, then knowing lens focal length, you can set the film plane to any distance using the distance fomula after measuring the distance to your subject. You can use a string or line set to a specific length that you set by moving the camera back to the right distance for that string length.
distance formula 1/di +1/do = 1/f where di is the distance to the image, do distance to the object being photographed, and f is focal length of the lens.
