You may already be aware of this, but similar rocks can be found just upstream of Foxton, on the north fork of the south Platte. My family has a place near there. If you live in the Denver area, it would be closer than 11 Mile Canyon.
Excellent, I was hoping you'd been able to explore upstream a bit from where the previous shot was taken. FWIW, this has just the right amount of watery "blur" for my tastes. Otherwise, I realize that hosting platforms create different levels of "sharpness" for photos here, but I'm thinking that you might take a loupe to your negatives to make sure they're as razor-focused as you need them to be--you're yomping through some challenging conditions out there, so it might be possible that you need to up-armor your tripod/head or even evaluate how your camera handles what the Front Range throws at it.
Thank you ! I am still learning how to gauge the exposure time to allow for the right amount of blurriness in water. It sure is tricky to make it tasteful.
As for the sharpness, I agree that I might not have the most rock-solid setup with my 8x10 camera. Plus it was late in the evening and I was rushing. A lot to manage and learn.
I appreciate all the thoughtful advice.
