Probably the 2509N Reels. I found they worked well and only switched when I got some expert drums with a darkroom I bought.

It depends on one vs two reels
I have the mod 54 and used it in a patterson 3 reel tank?, only tank it was made to fit. My 2509n is used in a 2523 tank. I use it rotary, but had to fit a pvc pipe over it to use on a rotary, as it is very short. (needs something to stop it tipping over). Works a treat for xray film, I tried it with the two 4x5 panels, but it caused a lot of mottling and drag marks. Uses very little developer, very economical.
Using Multitank 5 with two 2509 Reels. 4 Sheets of film on each reel. 6 does not work for me.

I am using a 3006 drum - 6 sheets (mostly for 5x7, but occasionally 4x5). I do not know if they are compatible with the CPE. I use a Unicolor or Beseler motor base. I have never used the 3010 drum (10 sheets 4x5), but that seems to be better for higher volumes.
