Hi All,
I know there are a number of people doing wet-plate collodion on the forum, and I hope you can help me get some ideas. I am going to exhibit some of my 8x10" tintypes (read here: wet-plate collodion on trophy aluminum, varnished with sandarac) next year, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to display them. For personal use, I prefer to put them on easels as in the attached example. Since I would like to sell some of them, I'd like:
- No glass - it makes them too dim (I saw the Sally Mann exhibit which uses well lit shadow boxes behind museum glass - not ready for that).
- Reversible - I'm trying to sell them, and I hate to permanently mount a one-of-a-kind piece on something that may not appeal to the buyer
- Can mount on a wall for the exhibition (although I'll also have some on easels)
I would appreciate hearing how people display their tintypes or ambrotypes, to get some inspiration for displaying for the show. I'm thinking of using the wall mount plate holders (as in these), but I'd love to see how else people are displaying.
Please note the plates in the photo are of Andrew the Panda, my stunt-model and exposure guide. The actual plates will be of my figure work, but I didn't want to make this a "NSFW" thread.
Any input appreciated!
Thanks!
Bill
