First shot of the new year - I'm a cold weather wimp and the weather man promised it would be warmer. I still had to wear gloves.
Amicolola Creek - unofficial starting point of the Appalachian Trail. Amicolola is the Cherokee word meaning Raging Water.
Chamonix 4x5, 180mm, FP4, Pyrcat HD. I applied some back tilt to get the foreground foliage as sharp as I could and stopped down to f32. Image(s) scanned with Iphone and processed in Lightroom and PS.
But then I asked myself, "Where would Corran shoot this from?" So I moved down the bank, nearly falling in the rushing water several times, and lowered the tripod to minimize some of the overhead foliage. I also wanted more foreground rock and reoriented to landscape mode. The sun was rising quickly so this shot is has more contrast and is a little brighter but still required a 3 second exposure. For the extra contrast I held back a bit in developing. Added a bit of color in post as I would with toning.

Yes downstream by the lower parking lot. The falls were rather weak so I did not even bother to shoot them.
Here is another from the trail up to the pond where the creek bends. I liked the log and the curve but the clutter is a bit too much even for my tastes.
10 seconds at f32. N- development in diluted Pyrocat HD with minimal agitation.

Ah yes I know that log, and I agree the clutter is a lot. We should bring a little pair of yard shears .
I probably don't go all the way up to the falls but 10% of the time. I like the creek better. They cleaned up the area around the first bend past the pond and now you can access another part of the creek that previously was too overgrown to get at.
1905 Korona View - Ilex Paragon 163mm - f/45 - Fomapan 100 - 5x7 Film - HC110 1+100 - Unaltered Negative Scan
5x7 is a pretty sweet format.
