A couple more from this fall. Both taken on the same day in a light rain. I love shooting in the rain even though it is a pain in the butt. The colors just glow. The first one was taken in Yellowstone and second one just outsice of Yellowstone on my way down through the Tetons. I used an Ebony 8x10 on both with a 210 on the Yellowstone image and a 450 on the other. Velvia 50 was the film on both images.

Nothing like rain to make the colors pop.

I really like the second image but I absolutely love the first one in Yellowstone.

Ben & Jim, great color photos in this thread lately. Good work! JaZ's dolomite images are a real treat as well.

Sergei, I shoot with expired Portra now and then; the magenta color cast around the edges is a common problem. I correct it by opening the scanned image in lightroom, then using the adjustment brush (K on the keyboard). Then I adjust the color temperature sliders of the adjustment brush (the yellow/blue and green/magenta sliders) for the correction (usually adding a lot more green), and brush away at the image until I get it fixed.

I hope I am not "hogging" space here, but after getting a bunch of nice scans done, I thought I would throw some out there for reactions. Here are two more. These get away from the southwest/west images and are indicative of out Midwestern autumn season. Both were taken this fall with my Ebony 8x10 with both of them taken on Provia. The first with my Fuji 300 and the second with my Nikkor 450. I have not had much luck here in the Midwest with fall colors the last few years, seems I am either too early or too late, and this past year wasn't particularly good either. On the first image, I actually set my tripod up in my van (I have one that one can stand up inside) trying to get a higher perspective. Got up an extra foot or so, but it was one of those instances that made me want a taller tripod, and it worked, I bought a 9 footer shortly thereafter.

Both are real nice, especially the second. The two from Bryce I would not put up there with your best.

Like both of them. Have you ever thought of trying to get in there in the fall when the cottonwoods are turning? That would certainly be interesting. It was nice running into you and talking with you again in Zion. How did Death Valley treat you? Jim

The conditions were great in Death Valley, but I was pretty worn out after spending a week in Zion. I spent 3 nights, then headed home a couple days earlier than planned. If I had started fresh in Death Valley, I'm pretty sure I would have spent at least a week there.

All of these appear extremely sharp which speaks to excellent technique. Even your thumbnails look great but clicking on them and opening the files even more so. I enjoyed seeing them all. The last two reminded me of the New England landscape. Thank you for sharing these.
