    Re: Wanderlust 4x5 P&S

I was about to list my Horseman 6x12 for 4x5 back on ebay. But after seeing this, I decided not to.

This mated with the 6x12 back would be a dream for traveling. 120 travels better than 4x5 (no dark-bag required, no film holders, easy film changing).

If you got the 65mm version with a 6x12 back, it's the poor man's Linhof Technorama 612.

This paired with a Polaroid 110A converted to 4x5 with a 150mm... That'd be the bees knees for travel!

A question, since we've been having some cross-talk here about who can see what. From here, this main comment thread can be viewed without logging in or needing a Kickstarter account...

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...amera/comments

...while the comment threads associated with the individual update posts, like this one...

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...70689#comments

    ...cannot.

This is with a "private" browser window, so there shouldn't be any issue of cookies or anything else carrying over across sessions.

If someone has a moment and can check these links from their computer and let us know what they find, I'd appreciate it.

They both work for me but I am a KS guy and contributor to this project.

    So you need MD.

    MD?

Oren the first link does indeed take me to the comment which I can view without logging on. The second one takes me to the update page and I have to log on.

    "Hi all,
I just wanted to say: we hear your feedback, and your constructive criticism and encouragement really make a huge impact. We're so grateful to have such amazing support from our backers, who have waited a truly unreasonable amount of time for a seemingly simple product. After browsing some other Kickstarter projects, it drives home how patient you all have been.
I actually received updated samples a few minutes ago, and will need to do some quick environmental testing to make sure they can hold up in the real world. But for now, the fit feels better than it ever has. This is the last puzzle piece, so I can't help but feel very optimistic.
I work in the same office as Dave from the CST watch project. They've had an even worse string of luck than we have. If you read their Kickstarter page and comments, it's heartbreaking. Michael, I'm fully on board with your suggestion that we share our experience with the larger maker community in some way. We have a lot to share—from broad reflections to very specific feedback for Kickstarter.
I don't regret tackling this project. I regret not hiring consultants and experts along the way to give us feedback. I'm used to the world of software, where you can iterate in hours, not weeks. I should have known—in Silicon Valley, there's an old saying: "hardware is hard." At certain points, we would have gladly paid $500/hour to talk to an experienced mechanical engineer.
In any case, we'll have more to say in the next few days. Thank you, thank you, thank you—no matter what happens, we're forever grateful that you all believed in us enough to back this project.
    Ben"
Thanks! I missed backing this and am horrified at the response by so many people. The Travelwide guys should do what the New55 people do on their web site and put up a paypal "donate" button. Though not a backer I would totally give them money to help them out. I know some other photographers that would as well. Some of us just want to help them make their goals. I'm hoping to get in on a future production run.

    +1 to the last post.

    Wish I had backed.
    Sorry I didn't.

I'd love to buy one of the 65mm focus-free bodies for a project.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

With all the carping, you'd think there would be lots of people selling their position. But, as far as I can tell, there aren't. Something for the Travelwide guys to keep in mind.

Sorry; I didn't mean to carp or complane. I am, though, interested in getting one whenever it becomes possible.
