LOL, does lapping compound work with plastics or only on metal valves and such? I like the idea of the dry lubricants.

Isn't lapping compound a fine abrasive? You wouldn't want to use that as a lubricant.

Lapping to smooth out the contact points, equalize the fit everywhere, and put a slightly matte--less sticky--surface on. Then wash it out and replace it with something lubricational.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

Fascinating but I'll see how smooth the focusing is before applying anything to the helical. With all the trouble the helical has caused, I wonder if Ben and Justin wish they had just shipped out a fixed focal length 65mm version.

I can't wait until we all have our cameras and can go out shooting. It's going to happen some day.

I wonder if it is going to come to that. They discovered the helical problem in July. It has taken until now, six months, to *possibly* come up with a solution. It makes me wonder if, with present technology, a helical this size designed to run dry, and stay in spec in all weather, can even be made at all? Or at least, be made by injection molding.

They may know by now if they have indeed found a solution. Whether the answer is yes.....or even if it is no, they should share it with the backers.

I think they have it nailed but have been busy with their jobs, and are waiting for the shop to run 1500 parts. I could be wrong, of course.

If they were that close they would be sending an address confirmation survey to all backers. If they haven't nailed down the helical yet then.........
