This is how I scan all of my film now, too, both B&W and color. I have yet to find an accurate film profile for any emulsion I shoot, so I now scan everything as neutrally as possible in 'positive transparency' mode (as Isaac indicated) and do all the heavy lifting in Photoshop. Negative film usually looks a bit washed out when initially inverted, but some curves adjustments and sharpening are enough to get it where I want it. The difference in tonal quality is dramatic compared to the old days when I was letting SilverFast do its 'auto' thing.
