But Why? There are plenty of Speed Graphics available in 2 1/4 X 3 1/4 that already take plate holders.
There are even Graflex Reflex cameras available in that format . . .and they too will take plate holders.
Why alter a really good modern medium format camera?

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!
Why not?
not everyone can buy a graflex (in Europe a graflex is about 600$)
you don't have to break anything but a 220back (mine was dead so I made a try)
It's just a new way to work with a RB (a reflex camera that is much different at use than a view camera....)
Sure, it all depends on the situation where you are. . . . so go for it.
A general question about photographica:
I am a little curious. Were there not press cameras in Europe during the golden age of press photography (whenever that would have been)?
In England there was a "MPP" series of press cameras, what did news photographers use on the continent?
Hope your project turns out well.
cheers

The MPP is closer to a Linhof than to a Speed Graphic. In general, the US style of rangefinder press cameras did not establish itself to the same degree in Europe - the bulk of the daily press photography market here went from 9x12cm SLRs to the Rolleiflex, whereas the SLRs were replaced by Speed Graphics in the US. Linhofs and MPPs were more complex and expensive, considered "field" cameras and used for architecture, landscape and high-profile travel and reportage work, not by the dailies.
Sevo I'd like to find some quarter plate graflex at 60€!
