Linhof Serial Numbers

correct is the number on the top of the camera? Or is that one more mistake?

The 5x7 IV was made from 1956 - 1964 (Bob will know the months and perhaps even the day!)
2 serial number lists exist for every post war Technika. One for the "Super" cameras with a rangefinder, and one for the cameras made without the rangefinder. This can cause confusion when you lump Rf/non-RF together and try to compare the serial numbers.

The 5x7 IV "Super" with RF cameras begin in 1956 at about SN 39,650 (an estimate, I don't have any official data) continue until SN 39,999 of 1961 (estimate) and jumps to SN 140,000 - 140,500 (estimate) until 1964.

The 5x7 IV Non-RF (your camera type) begins in 1956 around SN 25,400 and reaches SN 26,000 around 1960 and continues to SN 26,765 of 1964.

The SN 26,500 and beyond apparently are not on Linhof's list, Someone asked about 26,583 earlier in the thread. 26,500+ were among the last of the Non-RF IV's which ended in 1964.

Hi,

I've finally bought myself a Linhof Technika but I'm not sure of model or age. The only number I find on it is 64030.

It has a rangefinder if that helps.
