    X-Rite 810 Densitometer: wedges & replacement parts

    Hi,

I've won an X-Rite 810, which seems to come without a calibration target/wedge.

Which of the calibrated Stouffer products would you recommend for this task?
(one for reflective and one for transmissive)
    http://www.stouffer.net/Productlist.htm
The 21 step ones seem to be good for this, but which size should I use for transmissive?

Also, do you know a source for the X-Rite replacement lamp?
In the X-Rite Store, they don't seem to offer it any longer ...

    Best regards and thanks,
    Martin

    Hi
I have had an X-rite 810 for a few years and excellent it was too, I say was because when the lamp blew recently I tried to obtain a replacement lamp but they were priced at about 50 UK pounds (approx $70 US) upon further inspection I found that the lamp is a specially manufactured item and not available from any other source than Macbeth X-rite or whatever they are called these days, fortunately I have a Macbeth TR524 which has been stored away for a few years so brought that back into service, I am very sorry if this is bad news and would appreciate any info re lamps for the 810 as I would really like to use it again.

    Good luck

Here, the 4x5" transmission is used ...

That seems to be the TP4x5-21?

Hello Tony, ouch! Hope they're still available somehow...

Actually, Xrite still sells the transmission calibration wedge (810-68) and reflection calibration plaques (302-12). They are pricey but still available. You do need to keep these machines calibrated since lamps age and light output changes and the machine needs to adjust itself accordingly. The 810 requires transmission calibration to be done before reflection. The problem with the Stouffer wedges is that they do not give separate readings for visual, red, green and blue channel, at least when I last looked. As for the lamp, that's a bit of a bugger. Have you tried calling Xrite? If they do not have the parts, I think you may be out of luck unless you are comfortable with ripping into it and trying to fit some other bulb into it and then recalibrating.
    Cheers, DJ
